Inviting your friends is easy. Use the server's new Guests feature to send email invitations:

Then all they need to do is sign up, download Media Browser Theater, and sign in with their pin code.

Roku Beta Channel Supports Connect

The Roku beta channel has also been updated with Connect. You can read all about that here:

http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-134-try-the-media-browser-for-roku-beta-channel/

Look for the update to hit the public channel soon, but in the meantime, try it out with the beta.

Try the Hosted Web Client

We now have a hosted version of the web client at:

http://app.mediabrowser.tv

Simply use your Connect (forum) login, and then you can access any of your servers (owned or shared).

More App Updates on the Way

Look for updates to several other apps in the coming days to support signing in with Media Browser Connect.

Am I correct in understanding that this eliminates the need to know the IP or host name of the home Internet connection?

I tried using the web client  the web client at:

http://app.mediabrowser.tv but all I get is a page with a title showing "Mediabrowser", and below that, a link "Home", which takes me to the app downloads page. I tried both from my laptop using Chrome, and from my phone, using Chrome for Android.

I even disconnected from my VPN thinking that might be the issue, but no go.
