This is a small maintenance release but we've still managed to squeeze in some fun new features. Without further ado, here are the highlights.

Faster Browsing

We've trimmed some fat from our api output and you'll notice faster response times in all clients, particularly the web client and raspberry pi. Expect even more improvements in future releases.

Cast & Crew added to DLNA

Now when you browser your movies, you can see the cast & crew for each movie.

You can even click into an actor to see what other titles they appear in:

Bugs Resolved

  • Latest channel items not respecting parental controls
  • Display issues with mixed movies & tv libraries

Try the Hosted Web Client

We now have a hosted version of the web client at:

http://app.mediabrowser.tv

Simply use your Connect (forum) login, and then you can access any of your servers (owned or shared).

Once you sign in, you'll see the very same web client you've come to know and love. Switching servers is easy:

I am guessing 3.0.5462.0 is effective Dec, 14, well I have started my server 3 times, I don’t' see reflection of the update my ver is still 3.0.5445.6 what could have being the reason for this?

On a separate note: I have several users who have access to my servers, 2000+ movies library.

My challenge is it’s impossible to meet the needs for various users who only which wish to watch specific movies class.

I currently have to create separate folders for each group of movies, such as Kids, Family, and War I found this method very time consuming just duplicating what the system have created as Genres libraries.

I thought what would have been efficient is if the server include in user setup additional tab title "Genres Movies" this would easily allow for selecting categories based on users request and save time in the creation of several library for each categories of movies and the system have already grouped.

Also on the client side, for instance Kodi/Titan skin already has the functionality to display by Genres.

Summary few benefits

Therefore library maintenance will be easy, save time in the creations of several libraries, eliminate guess work in determine which group a movie belongs, save time moving files between diff categories in the event of incorrect grouping, quick response to client’s needs to view specific movie class etc.
Just my 2 cents thought.

Appreciate if the thought would be taken into consideration in the future server built

You don't need to do any of this. Just use the parental control by tags feature. Keep your genre folders. Add tags to the folder. For example, add 'Action' tag to the Action folder. Then go to your users who you don't want to see Action, and add that to their restrictions.

Hi Luke OK I must have been missed what needs to be done to set user's to specific class of movies, I will give a try and report back. and sorry just note that the released is still in beta stage -Thanks

This Beta added all of my trailers to my media library as movies... They were all in the folder with the actual movie and were called movie-trailer.mov . Any idea why this happened with the latest Beta?

A revision to the beta has been posted. if the issue still persists please post in the forums about it.
