ffmpeg.exe does not terminate when stopping a movie

Hi,

as per the title, I notice that ffmpeg.exe on the server does not terminate if I stop a movie before it has finished; even if I exit the app.  For example, if I start a movie and then stop it a few seconds or minutes later.

I am using the latest version of the app and server version 3.0.5347.2209

ffmpeg.exe does seem terminate on its own if the movie plays long enough and, I guess, the transcoding completes naturally.

I have the transcoding setting set to max.

I've attached the server and transcoding log files.  The entry in the server file:

Info - App: FFMpeg exited with code 1

appears after I manually kill ffmpeg in task manager on the server.

I do not have this issue with the ios apps, so don't think it is a server problem.

Thoughts?

Definitely not the expected behavior, but plausible in the current version. A new version is in the pipeline which has some logical changes around this point.

Hey @@7illusions,  not sure if you were referring to the version that was released today, but, fyi, the problem still exists.

Ok, thanks for reporting it. I'll try to reproduce it.

Can you please describe the workflow so I know how you do?

Sure.  Pretty simple.

1. Have task manager running on the server.

2. Fire up Media Browser app on surface pro 3

3. Select a movie and play it.  All of my movies are blu ray rips - re-encoded with Handbrake (contain HD audio track).

4. Once movie starts playing, will see ffmpeg.exe in task manager on server

5. Pause movie and then back out to detail screen.

6. Will see that ffmpeg.exe is still doing its thing on server (eating significant cpu cycles).

7. Wait a minute or so and ffmpeg.exe is still running.

8. Completely close Media Browser on SP3

9. Ffmpeg.exe is still running on server

10. Kill ffmpeg.exe manually in task manager.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

What if you don't pause before backing out of the movie?

(both scenarios should work, I'm just curious if that makes a difference)

I noticed a similar behavior with LAV.

If you pause and go to a new movie or switch to a new movie while another is playing it causes a fatal error in WMC/MB3.

However, if you press stop first you can switch to a new movie/stream without an error.

@@foghat the latest version, v2.1.1, is now available to download.

Can you confirm that your issue is closed?

Thanks

Seems to be fixed now.  Nice work!

Except, another bug go introduced (not sure if was 2.1.1 or the previous version).  Now, when a movie is playing and you bring up the player controls (by tapping screen), there is no way to make the controls disappear - tapping the screen again does nothing.
