Z0r0b 1
Using the webui I changed the View Order to TV, Movies and Channels (under Preferences, Display, View Order). This ordering only appears to apply to the webui. In MBC I get the reverse order of Channels, Movies and TV which is the exact opposite of what I access most frequently. Does this ordering not apply to MBC?
Solution blade005 172 Posted August 31, 2014 Solution Share Posted August 31, 2014 MBC does not use the order feature that is now available in the WebUI. I still use the SORT NAME field (input a number based on where you want it to display) of each folder in my collection to set the display view that I want MBC to follow.
ebr 14862
That is correct. MBC has not implemented the new Views api and it may not because most MBC people are used to the media folder presentation and changing that would be a fairly radical design change. Those have not been met with open arms in the past .
Logos302 86
This one would be nice and an option to turn off or on. I know space is at a premium with this. But I think that it would be worth it.
Z0r0b 1
Thanks so much for that. I got them showing in the order I wanted. Now TV is the first item. That was biggest issue with MB Classic and now its solved.

I agree. I would like to see this as a potential optional selection. I know some may not want MBC to change, but I like the idea of standardizing my views across all of the platforms now available (WebUI, Android, MBC, MBT, etc.)
ebr 14862
We are going to look into it but, in addition to the workflow change, it presents certain technical challenges as I'm dealing with some very old code-bases and assumptions in the existing themes as well as some of the core code. Some of these may not be compatible with the "Views" approach so we will simply have to see how well we can mesh them.

I can't quite understand where you put the number.
BATTLE DONKEY 98
Open up ur collection from ur web browser, open up the metadata manager and click on any of ur top level folders I.e. movies, TV shows, games, etc. On the right side of the screen u should see "Sort Name:" it is the 3rd entry field down, after Path, and Name. The sort name is alphabetical so if u want to change the order easily just change the sort name to something like "1" for TV shows. "2" for movies. Etc. This will place TV shows before movies on the MBClassic ehs Edited September 7, 2014 by BATTLE DONKEY
Jedi6 1
Got it! Wow! Metadata manager has a lot of potential, a great enhancement over MB2. Thanks a lot.
