Issues when starting a video and resuming from pause

I'm having a couple of issues relating to playback with the new video interface.

When I start playback of a film or tv show the sound starts and it can take somewhere between 3 and 5 seconds before the mediabrowser UI disappears and the video starts to show.

Secondly, when I pause a video and then unpause it, then often the audio and video will jitter for several seconds before becoming paused again. If you attempt to unpause it again then the issue persists. As a result if I want to pause something then the only way to get it to resume properly is to stop the video and then resume it again.

Has anyone else noticed these? I'm running the latest version of the server and the client.

FYI - "latest version" doesn't really tell us anything.  Please provide version numbers.

However, I doubt this particular issue has anything to do with specific versions.  Sounds more like a codec or graphics driver or other external issue.  What codecs are installed?  Do these issues occur if you turn off the custom interface?

Sorry, wasn't sitting close to the machine and in a bit of a rush so took a punt on just putting "latest version". Figured that someone else might chime in and say they also had the issue - but doesn't look like that's going to happen :)

Server is 3.0.5347.22095. Client is 3.0.206.0.

Haven't noticed the issue yesterday (which is nice) but I'll find a video that fails and try with the custom interface turned off.

Hi ebr,

Okay, so I've found a video with the issue.

Stream 0: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1), 720x404, Frame rate 23.976023

Stream 1: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a), Stereo, 48000 Hz.

If you turn off the classic interface then it resumes from pausing just fine. Try as I might, I cannot get the thing to jitter.

With the new interface turned on, after resuming both the audio and video jitters for several seconds before it goes back to being paused again.

Many thanks!

What is the graphics spec on the machine and what codecs are installed?

This is probably just an unfortunate side-effect in some environments.  When using the standard WMC interface the machine is put into true full-screen mode where WMC has access to the hardware processing of the environment.  When using our "pretty" interface, this isn't the case.  Honestly, I expected more people to have problems when this first went in but it has worked remarkably well in most environments.
