Is Media Browser capable of streaming news shows, living on their respective websties, into Roku 3?

Hello Everyone,

I recently took the technology plunge into the Roku 3 world, and not regreting it (thus far), having pulled the plug on Directv.  Was able to finally catch a full program of CBS's Sunday Morning, on Sunday morning, when I wanted to for the first time in 20 years.

Nevertheless, there are 2 channels on Directv that do NOT live, in autonomous incarnations, on a Roku 3 Channel... Aljazeera, with it's Borderlands special series (for example); and my beloved MSNBC (in particular, the programs Hardball, All In, and the Rachel Maddow show, etc). These shows are, however, streamed off their respective websites (howbeit with the aid of a VPN work-around for Aljazeera... Really US market!)... say, after midnight.

To say the least, I feel like all this research is making me smarter, but my eyes have started to glaze over, and the question remains..."Is Media Browser capable of streaming news shows, living on their respective websties, into Roku 3?"  I have seen the giant tutorial on how to set up MB, and the answer didn't grab me over the span of a few trained passes... so I would like to put the question out there to this highly intuned forum and it's members. Tried to Chat, but nobody is how... Can anyone help with this?

Yes and no, two solutions to this problem. Either record them (not that useful in this case since if I'm reading you correctly they are on the web only) And two make a feature request for those specific channels. (check the svtplay or similar in the plugins area of the server to see what I'm talking about).

Hi R.Magico, and welcome!

I currently get a few news shows by their video podcast, however, only one on your list has the full show to stream. Rachel Maddow's show shows up about 2 hours after it airs, but that is the only full show I could find from msnbc. The rest can be streamed, but only broken into story segments. These work great through MediaBrowser Server and a Roku 2 for me, so I'm sure the Roku 3 can play them as well. :)
