No Actor images

Hi,

i have a problem. MediaBrowser is downloading all metadate and images like fanart/disc/banner etc, execpt actor-images.

I setup MediaBrowser to be comapible with XBMC and i scan my whole-movie-folder on my windows server via SMB-share.

First i select to store all metadate into each movie-folder on my server. MediaBrowser saves correctly all fanart/banner there, except actor images.

I thought the reason that no actor images are saving is that i setup MB to save all metadata in XBMC-compatible-mode and XBMC stores actor images in a folder called ".actors"

and on a windows-mashine you cant create a folder which starts with a DOT "." -> so i thought MB just cant create the folders.

But then i switched the settings that metadata and all images should be saved directly into the MB-folder in C:/User/AppData/Roaming/MediaBrowser-settings/... and i forced to rescan and replace all

images. But still only all actor images are not present.

Thanks for any help

This is what i see:

Actors are a bit different, since there are so god damn many of them not all will be populated asap. Give it a couple more days or so and look again, I have been running mb3 for over a year now and from the save view maybe 2/3 of the actors have pictures. ( I don't really care or i would have fixed them :P )

If you want to fill them asap i know there was a tool for that somewhere around the forum.

It could also be worth checking the Metadata -- > Services --> People, and see if those settings check out.

And at last not all actors will have images, i know Aaron Paul does though. since mb3 does not do web-scraping of imdb (and they should not since its kinda illegal) we have to look at more api-friendly sources. Try editing the images for our dear Aaron and you should be able to find them.

Thanks for the quick answer!

So do you quess its downloading the images bit by bit?!

0) Do you can sent me the link for tool on the forum?

1) I checked Metadata -- > Services --> People , and all is checked.

2) I dont know where MB33 is downloading the actor-images but i guess the best source would be "themoviedb.org". An for e.g. for "Aaron Eckhart" and "Aron Paul" there is at least one actor-image avaiable on themoviedb.

Thanks

That would be my bet.

0. Will post if i find it.

1. good.

2. as a test, if you click on one (lets say Aaron Paul), you should get to a page with (hopefully) some information about him, a bit down you will see an "More" button, click that and in the popup menu click edit.

From there click Images --> Browse Images, and you should get some to choose from.

Now I'm not suggesting that you should download them all yourself since that would take forever, but this will in any case show if Mediabrowser can find an image. Even though it's not downloaded yet.

I recently set up a media server and installed the latest MediaBrowser Server on it. Version 3.0.5347.22095. I am running MediaBrowser Classic on my HTPC Version 3.0.207.0

I did go into advanced and selected refresh people.

The Cast Icons are not populating in any Movie.

Any idea what can be causing this?

Thanks a lot. Now its working and downloading all actor-images. (after i run the "refresh people task").

I just dont know why MB3 is only downloading actor-images when I run this task and not if i scan/rescan my whole movie-folder.

But Thanks :)

because it can be a very slow process, however, now that you can disable metadata for certain types of people, and now that the default is pretty conservative, i may at some point rethink this and download people info when the movie metadata is downloaded.

I am still having the same issue of the actors not updating, no actor pics.  the server has been running for about 6 days. I also have tried refresh people.

When I select movie, select actor, more, advanced refresh , missing data only and missing images only I do get the actor thumbnail to show up in all the movies the particular actor is in.

Am I doing something wrong?

i am running MD server Version 3.0.5366.22005

Other than that everything is running perfect.

In both Media Browser Classic and the Web browser as above.

On another point, in my ImageByName folder I have GameGenre, Genre, MusicGenre, People, Studio, Views, Year. Are all these folders named correctly?, or have the developers changed the naming?.

Those are all the same one I have.  Have you tried manually running the "Refresh People" task?

Hi, if you mean going into scheduled Tasks then yes I've done that several times. Also maybe I should mention I've done the scraping using Media Center Master, would that make any difference?.

Also just checking the location and naming convention is correct, here is mine:

ImagesByName > People > Kate Winslet > folder.jpg

Folder.jpg being the image of the person.

I use MCM also no issues, just ensure you have "New MB3 style (first-letter subfolders)" checked.  Application-S&P-Artwork

Also just checking the location and naming convention is correct, here is mine:

ImagesByName > People > Kate Winslet > folder.jpg

Folder.jpg being the image of the person.

That is the old format.  Should be in A-Z subfolders.

ImagesByName > People > K > Kate Winslet > folder.jpg

For the next release and in the current beta, behavior is improved to help with this.

When scanning in new titles, even if you have existing metadata we'll still go out to the internet to try and pull in people information.

Also, when opening individual person detail screens, there will be some on demand refreshing to attempt to fill in metadata for people that don't have any.
