ireme 11
With last WD TV Live version 2.02.32, WD TV Live recognizes Multimedia server as "Media Browser". Many of the films as avi, mpg ... can be played but some mkv or mp4 used by Channels, not.It is a limitation of the WD TV Live or is there any possibility updating formats from DLNA profiles WDTV Live?. The Mediabrowser server using it's the last beta one. Thanks in advance Edited September 8, 2014 by ireme
cncb 17
For the life of me, I can't get my mkvs to play on my WDTV Live SMP. The WD SMP can handle the codecs in the mkv so this is not the problem (and using a different DLNA server I can play them without transcoding). I modified the default WDTV Live profile to direct play everything, removed all codec limitations, and removed the "response" entry but still get a "can't play the selected file" error on the WD. If I then remove the transcoding entries, it says there are no playable files??
Happy2Play 8281
Would need media info for a file that is being transcoded and the transcode log. I could be just a bitrate issue. All these issues need specific information. How to Report a Problem
cncb 17
There are no transcoding logs so it apparently never tries to transcode which makes sense. The WD seems to think the streaming file is in an invalid format. Here is the server log and mediainfo output. Is that where you created a custom profile from the "default" profile and left it named Generic Device? cncb 17
Yes, I created custom profiles for both the Generic Device and WD TV Live and set them both up to direct stream everything because it looked like it is using the WD TV Live profile for browsing and Generic Device for playback?? I already tried to increase both bitrates for both profiles to 1 billion but unfortunately doesn't make a difference. Happy2Play 8281
What is WD TV version do you have? Since are different limitations to each version the profile doesn't cover. http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2698/~/list-of-compatible-media-file-types-for-all-wd-tv-and-wd-elements-play-products#live Since you are getting "The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error." Some of your changes are not supported by the device.
cncb 17
I have the WD TV Live Streaming Media Player which can direct play all my mkvs.
Happy2Play 8281
There are always limitations, there is something in you custom profile that WD TV doesn't like. Could you delete your custom profiles and copy the dlna/system/WDTV Live.xml to the dlna/user folder and rename it to your choosing so you can seen in the log that that profile is being used and only modify the "Max Streaming biterate" and "Max Sync bitrate". If still transcoding post transcode log.
cncb 17
I followed your instructions and success! Apparently just the bitrates need to be increased. Thanks for your help.
cncb 17
I have everything working except .ts files (MPEG-2). I have the profile set to direct stream everything so no transcoding is going on (verified there are no transcoding logs), but the WD gives an error that the file type can't be played. Again, I am able to play these same files via a different DLNA server with no transcoding so any idea what is special about .ts files?
cncb 17
So, I am able to play .ts files now by adding a custom "Response Profile". However, I still can't get Live TV to work. It seems like it should be .ts as well (NextPVR) but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know how Live TV is presented via DLNA?
TomTiddler 39
CNCB - I'm having what seems like the same problem with .m2ts files. Can u tell me what the "custom response profile" was that you used? .mkv's .mp4's all play just fine, .m2ts play fine if I access them directly from a network share, but not when accessed via the Emby server. ASW 2
Specific examples are only when I try to play any video file. Here's the log. I've toggled debugging & the checkbox for "Enable DLNA debug logging" thank you. server_log.txt Edited May 12, 2016 by ASW
Aardvogel 0
Just resurrecting this thread as I have just started looking at Emby and I am using a WDTV Live SMP (Gen3) I have run into the following issues using this device via DLNA so just wanted to get some initial feedback before contemplating any further action 1. Play To is not working 2. FLAC files are not playing. (Get the usual WDTV response "The file format is not supported etc etc") FLAC is a valid format according to WDTV documentation Presumably both of these are supposed to work in Emby? There are several variants of WDTV Live so for which one(s) was this profile tested against?. Thanks for your help
Luke 37060
Hi, we already have a wdtv profile that is designed to direct play everything. Unfortunately its' not feasible for us to test every device individually so in this area we do rely on community help to troubleshoot device-specific issues. Thanks. Aardvogel 0
Thanks for the info Luke. I will do some digging around myself first and then submit a problem report depending on what I find
Aardvogel 0
I uninstalled Emby and then installed latest stable server release (V3.0.6060.0). Music library consists of 1 CDs worth of FLAC files. Play To via DLNA to WDTV Live SMP works fine However trying to pull FLAC file with WDTV is not working. ON WDTV I connect to Emby Server, browse to Music and then to the album loaded. I select a track hit OK and get the response "Can't play the selected file". I have attached the logfile generated, seems to be falling over before it even attempts to stream/transcode the FLAC file any help would be appreciated. Luke 37060
Based on the log it looks like it never even gets to the point of playback. There probably is a problem with our xml responses but without having a wdtv it's difficult for me to test and figure out what that might be. Aardvogel 0
Hi Luke, I added a CD with MP3s to the library and then tried playing one of them from the WDTV and although it played there are quite a few errors shown in the attached log. Maybe this gives you some clues as to what goes wrong. Let me know if I can provide you with any other info that might help Regards, Mike server-63606608566.txt
