Has anyone run into this error when trying to install the latest client?

"the application cannot be started. Please contact the application vendor"

if so, how is this resolved? I found some threads about downloading some Microsoft development utility to clear out some sort of installation cache, but thats not working. any help would be appreciated.

The error is happening when trying to run the setup.exe from the latest windows server release.

I have tried running the following command: rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache, which didnt fix it,

and i have deleted all files/folders under C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Apps, which also did not fix it.

any other ideas?

yes, my account is an admin. also tried running the setup.exe as an administrator.

I've been using MB for years, and have never had this problem until the last release.

also tried doubling the size of the cache via a registry entry, which also did not work.

I would hate to have to uninstall the entire program and start over, assuming that I would lose all of the customization that has been done?

If the server is already installed you can let the auto update do the update instead and that will bypass this whole clickonce process.

If you can't do that because you run as a service, simply stop the service, then start the program as a normal app and let it do the auto update, then stop the normal program and re-start the service.

I tried what you suggested and when I try to start the normal app it gives the following error:

unhandled exception: one or more errors occurred

now what?

thanks
