So, I've been having to boat transfer from our main rig to a small satellite rig everyday for work.  Bit of a pain but quite good fun as you don't generally get to play by the sea when on a rig.

This is the main Rig that I'm staying on, it's massive If you walked from one end to the other it's about 2Km (1.4miles)

This is the Satellite Platform

Here's the Boat that takes us close to the Satellite, we get dropped onto the boat in a 4 man basket, lowered by a crane.

Love the Winking Smiley ;)

We then get in a little rubber dingy and head over to the Satellite

Then we have to time it just right with the waves to jump onto the ladder to mount the platform then you have a straight ladder to climb all the way to the top (I'm not very good with heights, so that sure gets the adrenaline pumping)

Then you get some idiot (ME!! :D) Doing a stupid catalogue pose for the camera lol

This is one of use just putting on the last piece of the pressure control equipment so we can open up the well and start our well intervention survey.

And Finally another Cheesey moment from me in our little tea room. Hope you enjoy.

Wow cheese, not exactly another day at the office then :) I had no idea rigs could be as long as that. 1.4 miles? Is that especially big or ... ?

I have to say your commute beats any others I've heard of :P

Yeah That is pretty big for North Sea Oil Rigs (UK, Denmark and Norway)

If you go to Far East and Qatar then they can get even bigger.

You will mostly see just one of those larger platforms on it's own as a rig.

hahahaha, not often we can bring camera's, still had to get a work permit for it, but it's great.

Yep in all my Orange Glory, seems to be the in color for offshore workers, except a few companies that wear either red or blue overalls.

Well luckily for us we cannot transfer if the wave height is more than 3m, but even in 2m waves it's pretty fun trying to catch the ladder just at the right time lol.

Aside from the dumb pics, how long are you on the rigs for at a time?

It varies, depending on how many wells I need to complete for the client on that rig and what other work is required on each well.  But the main factor is really.... if the oil companies can actually make any decisions.

So anything from 2-5 days to 5 weeks
