jongames 1
Hello everyone, I am new here and was trying to find a way to stream all of my movies. I tried Plex but I found Media Browser and think it is much better. Now only a few movies stream perfectly, the rest all freeze about 20 or so minutes into the movie for some reason while using the web client. MB version is 3.0.5366.22005. Here are the logs: http://paste2.org/G02AnpBP http://paste2.org/JXXV3WKG It is not a stuttering problem but the video just freezes and won't continue until the whole web client page is reloaded. The error in the logs says that the host refused connection. The web browser being used was chrome and streamed through WiFi. I am currently checking to see if Firefox on my wired connection has the same issue. Thank you for your help.
jongames 1
It has also occurred in Firefox. Upon reviewing the log again, it says that it cannot access the temp. streaming file since another process is using it.
arche 175
Have you tried a movie that has a lower level than 5.1? Maybe something 4.1 or 4.0?
jongames 1
Yes, the movie that is in the logs was level 4.1. Yesterday, the same thing happened with a different movie at the level 5.1 and also with level 4.0.

arche 175
Have you tried a wired connection? Just trying to narrow down the possibilities.
jongames 1
Yes, I have tried both wired and wireless but it seems to be something on the server since every computer I have tried reacts the same. I am currently trying the 4.0 movie again on direct quality mode and it now passed the 20 minute mark but I don't know yet how long it will last yet. bennymac 47
Just a thought. Is your MB Server a Windows PC? You might want to check your Advanced power options as the default spin-down time for hard drives will be around the 20minute mark, which can cause breaks or pauses on video playback for sure. jongames 1
I checked the hdd spin down on my server and it was set for 20 minutes but after i disabled the hdd spin down, it still freezes during playback. Here are two new logs: http://paste2.org/b62yLwUY http://paste2.org/PFE24Jb4 for after disabling hdd spin down. I also disabled QoS on my router which nirvmedia suggested in a pm. jongames 1
Update. Different movies stop at different intervals so it seems to freeze at randomly. I enabled debug logging and have newer logs: http://paste2.org/E28AYH8A http://paste2.org/D5U6b3wE http://paste2.org/dKcgYe0P I rebooted the computer and tried switching it from a Windows Service back to the default process which shows up in the notifications area of the taskbar but that didn't change anything. jongames 1
Never mind, I fully uninstalled (make sure to remove everything during uninstall and not keep any data/metadata) and installed Media Browser from scratch and this issue hasn't come up for a few days already. I don't know what was wrong but a re-install fixed the random freezing.
jongames 1
After the server automatically updated (to Version 3.0.5390.25829 ) (a month later after I thought I fixed this issue), this playback freezing issue came back. This should be investigated further. I just disabled automatic updates for media browser so that it won't update again. I am trying to fix this issue currently by reverting to the System.old directory in media browser's folder. I will update if it starts playing videos fine again. Can someone please look into this (the issue is still the same as in the above logs)? Edited October 7, 2014 by jongames

This is a very old post. Probably best to open a new thread with the information requested in How to report a playback problem. Thanks!
