michaeltruncale 5
I have various movies that I have added into MB3 and some display the correct movie length in minutes, while others display 0 minutes. They will all play just fine in MB3 Classic however the ones that display 0 Minutes have these issues: 1. Cannot play it remotely 2. Cannot resume playing from a previous session Is there some criteria that the media file needs in order to make sure it has the correct minutes displayed in MB3 Classic? Thank you. ebr 14856
Try refreshing them with the metadata editor. If this doesn't work then they are in some format we cannot deal with or there is another error. What format are they?
aspdend 174
I have this issue with some TV programmes that are in mkv format. Where they have been added to my UnRAID server and before the MB3Server completes a scan, they can show as 0 minutes length with the same issues you describe. I think it is related to the fact my MB3Server is not completing it's scheduled scan properly - which issue I will be posting about shortly with logs etc.
michaeltruncale 5
So I dug a little deeper to see if there was a relationship between file type and this behavior. What l ended up discovering is that there is no relationship. I found it occurred on mkv files and m4v files. It also seemed to happen on blu ray rips but not DVD rips. In the movie.xml file within their respective folders I did notice that the line: <RunningTime> </RunningTime> Was missing completely from those movies that were affected. Is there an automated way to have MB3 grab that info from IMDB and repopulate it? Or do I just have to delete the .xml and see if MB3 depopulated it correct the next time around? Thanks for your help this far!
ebr 14856
That information doesn't come from metadata (generally) it comes from the files themselves. Did you do what I suggested above?
michaeltruncale 5
@@ebr how / where do I do what you suggested: "Try refreshing them with the metadata editor..." I looked in the MediaBrowser Dashboard for that option and couldn't find it.
Vidman 589
In the web client go to the offending movie and click the more button then edit... This brings up the metadata editor for that movie then click the refresh button to refresh the metadata and rescan the media file for info such as codecs and running time etc... If the scan is successful you should be able to click the media info drop down on the movie info screen in the web client and it will list the video, audio and subtitle tracks found in the movie file Edited September 24, 2014 by Vidman

wabbit 0
I've had the same problem with a large number of my dvd rips (all in .vob files and VIDEO_TS folders) and it seemed completely random as to what film would be affected and using a different program to rip them made no difference.. the only way I got around it was to use the mvk pass through option in dvdfab and convert the affected films. they then worked fine. Abobader 2933
Nice. You don't need to click save though. Well done buddy, yes true, but what I can say, that "save" word always in the root in my mind, I can not help it @@Abobader, I tested this out and it worked! The movie now lists the correct time! Thank you for your help and knowledge! Glad to hear that all fine now, please go a head and accept @@ebr answer "click on Best Answer" (second post in this thread) as it the correct one to mark this thread as a solved one. Well done.
