tmcbride67 1
I am having a problem where MediaBrowser doesn't seem to be detecting most of my TV shows. I have the latest server release (Version 3.0.5366.22005) running on Windows Server 2012. All of my shows are DVD rips stored in VIDEO_TS folders. Everything seemed to be working fine about a week ago before my media hard drive died and had to be replaced. Since replacing it and restoring my files from backup, I can't get MediaBrowser to detect most of my TV shows. Strangely, all of my movies (also in VIDEO_TS folder rips) are detected fine. My TV library has been set up with the following folder structure: TV Series\Show Name\Season\DVD Title\VIDEO_TS. Here is a screenshot of my TV Series folder which shows the full path at the top: Here is a screenshot of the path I entered into MediaBrowser for the path to the TV Series library: And here is a screenshot of the only 2 TV serries Mediabrowser seems to be able to detect in my TV library folder: All of the other TV shows that are not displaying in Mediabrowser are stored in valid VIDEO_TS folders and will play properly from the server in a standalone video player. As an example of the full path to one of the VIDEO_TS folders that is not showing up in MediaBrowser, see below: Any suggestions as to what might be going wrong? jordy 284
@@tmcbride67 Pic 1 - Folder listing: shows the Path as V:\DVD\TV Series Pic 2 - Media Library locations: shows the path as V:\shares\Video\DVD\TV Series These are two entirely different locations. Firstly, make sure that they are the same or add a Library location for both. Secondly, use UNC paths eg \\FS1\DVD\TV Series. Also, in pic 1 there are not too many TV series listed so i wouldn't expect them to all show up in MBS as such. For instance Avatar is a movie not a TV show... You should have your Media types in different locations each with is own library path. eg \\FS1\Movies\, \\FS1\TV Series\, \\FS1\Animated stuff\, \\FS1\Home movies\ etc. cheers Edited September 29, 2014 by jordy

Solution ebr 14910 Posted September 29, 2014 Solution Share Posted September 29, 2014 Your structure does not follow our supported structure for TV. See: TV Series
fraenhawk 58
VIDEO_TS implies DVD rip which would be a movie, not a TV series. A TV series would need to have season folders with single-file episodes inside to be detected and categorized properly. So Avatar\Season 1\Avatar S01E01.avi is more like what you should be aiming for.

fraenhawk 58
Yep, completely forgot about support for video_ts if the folders are named correctly. I usually just use handbrake to pull out the individual files and not deal with DVD menus and such. So OP just needs to correct the folder naming.

tmcbride67 1
Thanks for all the replies everyone. After the advice on folder structure I took a better look at what was going on and realized that the reason most things were not showing up after restoring from backup was that the last backup of my media folders had been done back when I was using MediaBrowser 2 and didn't have the correct new folder structure. I have started redoing the folder structure as recommended in the posts above and everything is starting to show up again. As an example of the show Avatar, my folder structure is now "TV Series\Avatar\Season 1\S01E01-04\VIDEO_TS". Jordy, just as an fyi it was my fault that the screenshots made it look like I had two different locations for my files when in fact it is just one location. One screenshot was taken from the server (FS1) and the other screenshots were taken from the client PC. On the server, I have a local physical drive "Video (V:)" On the root of that drive is a folder named "Shares". All of my shared folders for that drive are subfolders of the "Shares" folder. So the path to my "TV Series" folder on the server is "V\Shares\Video\DVD\TV Series" I share out the "Video" folder in that path to the client PC On my client PC, I map the drive letter "V" to the "Video" share off of the server, so on the client PC the path to the TV Series folder is "Video (\\FS1)(V)\DVD\TV Series" Thanks again for all of the replies.
