Hi everyone,

I am a first time poster so be gentle. I have been using MB Server and MB3 Classic (clients) for some time now, and have been really pleased with it, about a week ago I decided to put MB Server on it's own dedicated machine running Windows 7 Professional 32bit. Since installing MB Server on this machine and uninstalling it from my desktop I can't seem to get the all the metadata to appear, I have tried the following:

  • Firstly my media folders haven't changed since moving from my desktop to the server (make shift server).
  • Deleted all the old metadata from the media folders in an attempt to get MB Server to rebuild everything - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • Tried the various metadata savers in the MB Server config - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • Deleted my libraries in the MB Server config and then added them back in - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • Deleted the cache from MB Server which is under C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\cache and rescanned the library - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • I've disabled chapter extraction and rescanned the library after reading an article that this might help - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • Have tried uninstalling MB Server and number of times - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • Tried reinstalling it on my desktop - that didn't resolve the issue.
  • I even tried installing MB Server and MB Classic on the same machine and the metadata appears for some but not all TV shows, where as it did previously.

I have 3 MB Classic clients, 1 on Windows 8.1 Professional and 2 on Windows 7 Professional, and they all behave in the same way.

I have 3 libraries configured, Movies, Home Movies and TV Series which are all on the same share on my Buffalo Terastation NAS, the shares are as follows:

  • \\JDPNAS01\Movies\Movies = movies and MB Server is configured as Movies for that folder.
  • \\JDPNAS01\Movies\TV Series = TV Series and MB Server is configured as TV Shows for that folder.
  • \\JDPNAS01\Movies\Home Movies = Home Movies and MB Server is configured as Home Videos for that folder.

The insteresting thing that I observed was the following:

  • So for example one of the TV Shows not appearing correctly in MB Classic on my WIndows is Blue Bloods Season 4 Episode 1,
  • The episode file is called Blue Bloods 401.mkv and is located under \\JDPNAS01\Movies\TV Series\Blue Bloods\Season 4\.
  • Under \\JDPNAS01\Movies\TV Series\Blue Bloods\Season 4\ there is a folder called meatadata which has a file called Blue Bloods 401.xml (attached to post) this has no episode meatadata in it really, however, when I look at the MB Server under C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\cache\tvdb\164981 the episode-4-1.xml (also attached to this post) the metadata file as all the correct info in it.
  • So it looks like MB Server is getting the correct info, but it's not making it to the media folders.
  • I am running MB Server Version 3.0.5395.0 and MB Classic Version 3.0.222.0.

I've attached the latest logs, I hope you can help, please feel free to contact me if you need any other info, thanks.

Kind regards

Jo

Blue bloods 401.mkv

The issue, 401, isn't understood as season 4 episode 01. The supported naming conventions don't work for titles named this way. Weird seeing as the release group, lol (one of the bigger), names their release like this.

Thanks for the replyspeechles, much appreciated, I had seen that link previously, however, because it had worked faultlessly previously I ignored thinking my naming convention was correct. Has something changed that means my previous naming convention is no longer supported, has a function been deprecated? I can't figure why it worked previously and on moving it to a different machine stop.

Anyway, better get scripting to rename everything, am think SED is going to be my friend for the next few days :-0

Again, thanks for your help, really do appreciate it.

If it worked before it was probably because there was existing metadata for it already but we have never been able to support a naming convention like that.

There is no way to know that "401" is season 4 episode 1 vs. season 40 episode 1 or just episode 401.
