Playing split files

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a couple of older videos which have been split into two sections. I am trying to stream but I can only pick the first file.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi I had this problem with some flippers.

I put both parts into one file and used

media centre master to make into a

collection, which will show both parts that

you can play.

Hope that will work for you!!!

Hi There, I think some of the clients don't yet fully support multi-part videos. If you only have a few I'd really recommend just joining them together - this can be done very quickly and easily without the need for re-encoding (takes 1-2mins to join two videos)...

See this guide here... http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/03/merge-multiple-part-videos-into-single.html

BUT - note this is for 'merging', you will want to use the 'append' button for part 2 of the video (see the comments section under the article - specifically comment #251).

This really is a very quick process and I did this for around 200 split movies over a couple of evenings. Happy to not have split movies any longer :)

I should add - this will join pretty much any files - .avi's, .mp4's .mkv's - just do a quick sanity check on the file when finished (playing a few seconds near the beginning of the file and a few seconds towards the end to ensure no audio sync issues.
