Osmosis 8
just recently i have been having a problem with mediabrowser changing episode names. i use mcm to scan and create the xml with the correct episode name when i add to my library and then mediabrowser comes along and changes the name in the xml to "episode s01e01" the thing is that this does not happen consistently. some episodes i scan with mcm and mediabrowser just accepts thier name and everything is good. next episode in the series i drop in and mb will not leave it alone. tried creating the xml with mcm and having mb scan that episode in server config and that will change the title instantly. is there a setting somewhere i need to change? i like mb being able to get some metadata (ie actor names and such) but don't really want it failing to find title names and making one up on the fly. ebr 14913
Do you have MB watching your library for changes and then also trying to fetch metadata and save it? If so, you need to turn that off as probably what is happening is the two programs are stepping on each other trying to do the same function (fetch and save metadata). Osmosis 8
i have fetching turned off and real time monitoring turned off as well. even if i enter the correct episode title in mediabrowser server metadata manager and then save it, if i hit the refresj button it snaps back to series name - s01e01 (or whatever season/episode it is) granted this is the naming convention i use for the actual files so that must be where the name is coming from but i was pretty sure a refresh would grab it's information from the xml file (which had the correct name before the refresh overwrote it) also i do not have mcm doing any sort of real time monitoring or anything so a confilct there doesn't seem likely. i usually just drop episodes in my various media browser folders (series, movies etc etc) and grab the metadata manually with mcm. i haven't changed any of my metadata settings recently and this used to work just fine for me. get the file, fetch with mcm, in media browser hit refresh and the episode name and thumbnail would sgow up (if the refresh was even needed) but recently it just hasn't been working
ebr 14913
This may be a bug that has been resolved in the dev line. You could try the dev version and see if it works properly.
Luke 37064
Sorry I haven't followed this because its a little hard to read but we don't change episode names without any reason
Osmosis 8
have switched to dev and will see what happens (which is rather strange since i was fairly sure i was allready set for dev. perhaps it changed a while back when i had an update problem and needed a reinstall) unfortunately i have been spending the last few hours manually fixing title names and that seems to have stuck so will have to wait for a few episodes of various series are availabe to see. as for the episode name changes, the reason is rather the question here. i notice there is a somewhat different layout between mcm's xml file and mediabrowser tho the elements are still named the same. mb just seems to grab the file name and uses that on some files and is unwilling to accept any change, even if i use mb to rename and save the xml hitting the refresh snaps it back to the file name. that fact that this seems to happen completely randomly makes figuring out what is different between episode 6 (proper episode name) and episode 7 (file name and going to stay file name dammit) rather confusing. especially sing the exact same procedure will work on fixing some of my episodes but stubbornly refuses to do anything about another even in the same series, same source, and same naming convention on both files. Luke 37064
when you refresh using the metadata manager, try using the local refresh only option
Osmosis 8
allready tried with the same results. that was one of the things that had me really puzzled, i would have the xml file opened in my xml viewer and the moment i did a refresh of any kind (either refresh button on any setting or even just hitting record in mbc) the viewer would warn me of xml change and the title was the file name (without the extension or source if source was bracketed as i usually do) Edited November 24, 2014 by Osmosis
Osmosis 8
well, switching to dev seems to have taken care of the problem. at least it seems so, since the renaming problem was so completely random it's possible it just hasn't cropped up with the last few additions of episodes but here's hoping. thanks for the assistance
