Music METADATA Question !!

Hello,

I'm a new user of MB3 and I have a little problem with music metadata.

I want to use MB3 to scrap Artist fanart. logo, thumbnail ...etc...because this feature seems to be very operational.

So I install my first MB3 yesterday at work... and added my litle 3000 songs to the library.

Artist, album and sons scrapper setup to "save images and data in the same folder" ... and it work very well, like I want... In each artist folder, I have a .nfo file and may pictures...ready for XBMC.... but it was just a test for home ...

So, at home yesterday night, I installed MB3 beta on my w81 computer.

I setup my music library to a smb share on my Synology nas containing more than 60 000 songs correctly tagged before.

When the library was scanned ... all artist/albun/songs  .nfo, ...fanart and logo are retreived, but not stored in the artist folder..!!!!   :(

In fact, all pictures are saved to %appdata%/roaming/MediaBrowser-server/imagebyname/....etc...

So, If I check my library in mediabrowser, everything look good,

But when I open XBMC, my library is not updated with thumbnails and other stuff because xbmc don't find the pictures saved by MB3

My metadata settings are the sames as at work ... "save pictures and data in the media folder'" ..... so I don't understand the scrapper behavior at my home system..

The only difference I can see between my two installation is the folder structure..

- At work:   D:\Music

                       \Artist

                         \Album

                            \song

and everytings is correctly scrap and saved at the right place

- At Home :    \\San\Music

                             \-=Alternative=-

                               \Artists

                                 \Album

                                  \Song

                               \-=Punk=-

                                \Artists

                                  \Album

                                   \Song

and the stuff are retreived but not saved at the right place :(

I have a guest account on my nas with read/write permission

So, the big question is ... What's wrong with my home setup and what can I do to cerrect it ??

MERCI BEAUCOUP :)   ... and sorry for my poor english !!!

I think it is because the folder structure of your Work system is following the recommended structure for Music, while your Home system doesn't. See:

http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/674-media-files-folders-structure/

Your Home system has an extra level: Genre, which is probably confusing the MediaBrowser parser. The genre of a music track is better included as an ID3 tag in the track - this should then be automatically picked up by MediaBrowser.

Hello,

Thank you for reply :)

Hum.... I don't want to put my 4000 artist in the same folder .... too long when I want to browse folder in Windows. :(

But I have an idea... if I put many sources in my library instead only one... maybe it could work..

For now, I have only one source in my music library :  \\SAN\MUSIC

I will try to change it for :   \\SAN\MUSIC\-=Alternative=-

                                          \\SAN\MUSIC\-=Classic Rock=-

                                          \\SAN\MUSIC\-=Folk=-

                                          \\SAN\MUSIC\-=Indie Rock=-

...etc ... if logic is respected, my file folder structure wil be supposed to be good now..

Do I have to delete my old music database before and if yes, how can I do it ??

MERCI :)

FrostByte

Couldn't you also just add 4 music folders to your library starting at Alternative, Classic Rock, Folk, Indie Rock.  Then it would be in the correct format (other than the symbols which I don't think should effect it).

@@FrostByte is correct, I use this method as it's easier to manage user access too.... No rock for the wife, pop folder only for my daughter etc....
