totalhavoc 13
I would love to see Connect and App.mediabrowser.tv have a way to bypass the need for port forwarding. Currently I do not forward 8096 to my server because my wife and child do not have passwords on their MB accounts and I do not want just anyone connecting to my server. With Connect you use your forum password with the app site but it does not require it when local. I love that but then I need to turn on port forwarding allow the app site to actually get to my server which opens the my server to the world and of course my wife's and child's accounts are accessible. My current solution around this is a VPN but that adds overhead.
Vidman 589
Why not give those accounts a password and then enable the setting for those users that local access does not require a password

totalhavoc 13
Why not give those accounts a password and then enable the setting for those users that local access does not require a password Where is this setting you speak of? I must be missing something If you don't want to be able to access your server from outside the network why do you need the connect part? Where did I say I don't want to be able to access my server from outside my network. What I said was I don't want the likes of you and others to be able to access my server. The minute I port forward anyone can access my server and media since I have accounts with no password. I currently use a VPN to connect back to my network to access my server but this adds overhead. Having a solution where I can connect to my server from app.mediabrowser.tv without a port forward similar to the way plex works would be awesome. Guess you have to set a password before it shows up.

What you are trying to do will require the help from such things as a vpn. How else are you going to access your server? since what the app.mediabrowser.tv does is talking directly to your server at home.
