Live Tile no longer works on Media Browser Win8.1 App (v3.0)

Hi,

Ever since the V3 Win8.1 App release, Live Tile no longer works. The option to turn on/off Live Tile is also gone.

To be honest, live tile is the only feature I use in this app as I am running Windows 8.1 HTPC and the Media Browser live tile sits nicely in the start screen. It shows me new movies/tv shows in my library.

Does the v3 app require additional instructions to get live tile working? I have not enabled the "connect" feature and I logon manually to the server (on the same machine)

I don't see a live tile support. I think it did in the past but cannot remember. It has lock screen support though.

@@Deihmos. Like I said, I only bought this app because of Live Tile and it has been sitting in my Windows 8 start screen showing me new movies added in my library for a year a now, until the latest update.

From Windows 8 App Store:

Features:

  • Browse your media
  • Stream videos to your device
  • Stream music to your device
  • Remote control other Media Browser players (like Media Browser Theater)
  • Supports PlayTo
  • LiveTile
  • Two different layouts
  • Light and Dark Theme
  • Subtitles, just bring up the appbar during playback to change subtitles
  • Audiotracks, just bring up the appbar during playback to change audiotrack

It will be fixed in the coming version.

I just checked the tile and it is live. Did you open the app and allowed it to run in the background? Seems a bit strange to use that tile to see what is new on an HTPC.

@@7illusions, thanks

@@Deihmos, You do not need to open the app and have it running in the background, you just need to have a saved login method. And like I said, I have been using this feature for about a year now. My windows 8.1 HTPC boots in Start screen and that is how I like it. From there, I can choose to run WMC, Mediabrowser Theater, XBMC, all using Mediabrowser server in the backend. I can also switch to watching Netflix/Hulu/etc. from the Start Screen. The live tile on the Media Browser app is very useful as it scrolls new/unwatched movies while I'm in the windows 8 start screen.
