Server updated (3.0.5464.40000), but now can't remote connect.

In the MediaBrowser app (android phone) it lists my server with LAN & WAN IP addresses. Selecting it pops up "Connecting to HTPC", which sits for about 10 seconds then goes back to the "Select a Media Browser server" screen. Same results when trying to "Sign in with MB Connect".

I've rebooted the PC, confirmed the rule in Windows Firewall, and added MediaBrowser to the Virtual Server for the port (8096) in my router - though prior to today this wasn't necessary. After doing so, I can connect through remote browser with the WAN IP address as shown in the server dashboard. But even so, my phone will still not connect via remote WiFi.

What else can I do?

I can't see any of my media, I see the folders, as well as Tv & Movies.  but when i enter any of it there is nothing.  I checked the user access settings and I checked the user preferences and all seems fine there.  Just no media to access with MBT or the web.  I even went as far as checking my media, and yes it is still there :)

@@Luke Do you have any idea what going on in here?  I cannot use my local user to login to MBS. If I use my forum login I can't manage/administer my server.

Note: My local user have <space> char. in it. Like "Name Surname" Other local users works fine. But non of them linked to any forum login.

Ok. I just edited users config xml file now it works:

File path: "c:\Users\denethor\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\config\users\3eff8a317d0ecf2ca5xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\config.xml"

<IsAdministrator>true</IsAdministrator>

Some how that value was turned in to "false"

Have same problem but  my config.xml says already

<IsAdministrator>true</IsAdministrator>

I still can't use MBS ;-( I use the latest Dev version 3.0.5465.42638

[update]After I closed all MBS and edit the file again it works.[/update]

there's an issue with the dev server that can cause user config values to get lost. so use the procedure to manually edit just as another user did above. a new build will resolve it today

There was an update to the MB for Android client app, but it didn't help. I can't even watch on LAN WiFi either. It will let me browse to the video, but pressing PLAY crashes the app. It also did this before the Android app update.

I edited the file as per the instructions above, and still don't have admin control.

Edit: I had to reinstall the beta, which brought me to the version mentioned in this topic, then have it update to Version 3.0.5469.23996 for the changes to take.

Is this being looked at?

Please see

If you're running dev builds then keep conversation in the alpha area, and make sure to review the thread regarding the dev builds for the current release cycle. Everything you need to know regarding the recent dev builds can be found there, just like every release cycle. If you're running stable then you need to state what your problem is in a clearly defined way that provides useful information so that the issue can be diagnosed.

Here is my latest server log.

Still no response from my Android post - http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/15673-android-client-2134-wont-play-any-video-crashes/

As far as connecting goes, have you tried when away from home? If you are trying on your own wifi inside your network, then you need loopback enabled on your router. That's something that's out of our control and many routers disable it by default. Try turning wifi off and using your mobile connection. If it works, then it is likely loopback-related.

Second - the android app displays ip addresses. are they correct? if not, try doing a manual connection to the correct address.

I was on remote WiFi is when I discovered the issue. Remote (cellular or WiFi) doesn't connect at all. It displays correct server information (PC name with both local and remote IPs), but will not connect. LAN WiFi connects fine and I can browse my library all day, but try and play something and the screen goes black like the server is transcoding. It never plays and the screen will time out from inactivity.

My wife's phone works fine locally, but will not connect remotely. As stated previously, I can connect remotely via web browser after setting the HTPC (MBS PC) as a Virtual Server in the router which wasn't required before. Windows Firewall exceptions are in place for Media Browser Server (all ports, TCP & UDP), and Port 8096.
