Clicking on "Identify" for music cds deletes images from extrafanart

I've recently started scanning my covers for music cds after ripping them and placing the artwork in the extrafanart folder so I can view them in the webclient.  However, if I need to click "Identify" on a cd because of a red triangle appearing it deletes everything in extrafanart and now I need to rescan a bunch of cd covers.  Ugg

 

Is there any way to stop MB from deleting the files, or do I need to just stick with the refresh button?  This happens whether there has a read triangle or not.  Doesn't create a log entry either.
