Music, Error Processing the Request

Hi there

Have the lastest updates to server (running on WHS 2011) and MBT, movies play fine no issues but trying to get music to play or even display is giving me grief, I click music from the headings ( Movies, Music, Trailers, TuneIn, Folders and Apps) i can see 7 large icons listed as Latest, Albums, AlbumArtist, Artists, Songs, Genres and Favorites, in all except favorits i can see 4 photos (assume these are obtained from the cover art etc i have in the music folders)

 

If i click any of the icons the screen goes blank for say 15 seconds then i get a message saying "Error There was an error processing the request" and have to click ok to exit, it then goes back to the Music vview with the 7 icons

 

All my music is correctly tagged using Tag & Rename with Album cover art etc in the folder of each artist.

 

Folder structure is

\\servername\albums

then each artist has its own folder with individual albums in folders I.E

 

Yes

The Yes Album\tracks

Fragile\tracks

etc.

 

Various artists \ compelation albums are again in seperate folders as Album name (see the attached images)

99% of my music files are FLAC

 

Any idea how to fix this issue, music is just as important as movies to me and now starting to think that MBT is going nowhere and might have to start looking at Kodi or Plex.

Man, I have so many issues in the music player, I don't know where to start.  I get the same error message frequently as well.  Usually with FLAC files but also with other formats.  I would also really like to use MBT as my main Music Player and put WMC on the back shelf.  I don't have any answers for you, sorry.  I have been playing around with the plex app as well and it does play music well.  I just really love the GUI of MBT.  It looks great where Plex is kind of lame in that regard.

at least someone else is having similar issues, had really given up on my post as no one seems to want to give any answers.

I have seen a couple of posts where they say that the MBT code is being updated and rewritten, but as per another post was starting to think that MBT had been forgotten and abandoned. There seem to be no end of updates and improvements for other players i.e Roku, Android, Chromecast, loads of thing if i want to stream movies etc to my phone ipad etc, not interested in any of those.

 

I don't have any problems with MBT playing movies but for music and anything else its currently a dogs breakfast, not sure how long before we get to see the updated version of MBT but my feeling is it should be the show stopper app that says to others using Kodi, Media Portal, Plex etc LOOK WHAT I CAN DO but after what? nearly 2 years seriously doubting that its going to happen, there seems to have been more updates to the WMC version than MBT.

 

If it means having to go for a paid premium version along the lines of what plex is now offering then yes fine go for it i'm sure theres quite a few users who would pay for a premium version

Personally I consider the MBT music support to not be worth using.  Use the web UI or the win 8app.  Either does a MUCH better job with music at this point.
