Windows MBS stops responding, has to be manually killed/restarted

My initial installation of MBS on a Windows 7 machine worked fine for a long time (at least a year?). I have it set to automatically update. Approximately 6 months ago, after a certain update (I don't have the version # :( ), media browser server started having an issue. I was hoping it would resolve itself in a future update but now I believe my problem must be unique to me, I don't see anyone else reporting it.

At least once every other day or so (sometimes as little as 1 day, sometimes as many as 3-4 days will go by) MBS will stop responding to clients and to web access. Roku, Media Browser Classic, and just accessing the web interface, MBS will simply not respond as if it's not running on the server.

On the Windows 7 machine I use for the server, it is still running. Sometimes I can right-click on it and tell it to restart and it will restart. More often, I have to go into task manager to kill the process, then manually re-launch the server. Either way, once I restart the MBS service, it responds to client requests for another day or so. I have run the usual routine of checking for updates, rebooting the Windows 7 machine, etc., to no avail. I can not see any reported problems in the Windows event viewer.

Any advice as to how I proceed with troubleshooting this problem? My current version is 3.0.5490.2.

Thank you,

how long has this been going on for?

can you post a complete server log from when it occurs?

Thanks for the reply Luke :) It started approximately 6 months ago. Sadly I did not make notes to give you very good data as to date/server version that it began. Sometime around July 2014 I think, similarly to that other thread.

I will grab the logs the next time it happens and upload them to this thread.

Thanks!

Well, as of 1/11/15 when I updated to Version 3.0.5490.2, I haven't had the problem happen again. I'd still like to leave this tentatively open but perhaps whatever it was has resolved itself? Normally by now I'd have had to restart the server manually.

I think this probably can be considered a non-issue. Problem persisted for a good 6 months across multiple updates, but since 3.0.5490.2 the problem has not recurred. :)

I am having the exact same problem.  Attempting to restart the service fails; it just hangs up.  I have to kill the MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe and then restart the service.  This has been going on for quite some time and I just figured it would go away, but if anything it has gotten worse.  I am currently running 3.0.5518.7.
