MBT running problem

Just wondering if anyone is having problems running MBT.

Over the last few days, on a Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit PC, MBT starts but doesn't get beyond a black screen, sometimes with an unhandled exception error (see attached screenshot). Have reinstalled MBT 2 or 3 times (version 3.0.5494.42115) and it always gives this problem.

Server version is 3.0.5500.21057 though think it did this with the previous server version also.

Not sure if there are logs for MBT ? can post server logs if required.

I have the following from the 23rd....

Could add some from 22nd if required. Can't think of anything that has changed except having changed internet providers and having a new router, would that affect anything ?

Thanks very much for your help.

Just had another go at running MBT, the time version 3.0.5502 on server version 3.0.5504. Still getting the same thing.

Would anyone have any ideas ? Its probably something obvious, I'm very good at missing the obvious.....

 Have attached logs

Sorry, bit new at this. not sure what you want me to do.

To me it looks like the server is providing the address 192.168.1.240 but MBT is looking for 192.168.0.2. I think the server used to provide that 192.168.0.2 address but it changed with new ISP and new router.

I somehow got MBT to work this morning as it would let me enter a new server, and I could type the new address (192.168.1.240) and it worked fine. Opened MBT this evening and its back to that black screen with spinning circle in the middle. Might be because I updated to the latest MB server dev version.

Though I'd attach 1 more log, as even though I really don't know what it means, I can see it refers to both those addresses in the log.

Yesterday, I had exactly the same problem happen to me on Windows 7 64 bit. Earlier in the day, I had replaced a printer, and the modem and router were rebooted during the process. After this, the Mediabrowser3 server started as usual, but Mediabrowser Theater would not. The same black screen with spinning wait symbol until the Mediabrowser UI.exe crashed with unhandled exception notice.

I strongly suspect the IP address was somehow changed during the router reset. Several attempts to diagnose and fix this were unsuccessful. Problem was solved by completely uninstalling Mediabrowser Theater, downloading a new MB Theater setup.exe from the web site, and installing. The whole process took less than 10 minutes and the MB Theater is now working perfectly as before.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Galan, certainly sounds familiar. Am pretty sure its some kind of router thing, as it seems that MBS is saying use 192.168.1.240 but MBT is looking for 192.168.0.2.

Having said that, started MBT today, and after doing its spinning circle thing for a while, it decided to offer me the chance to use the existing server or select a new one, so I selected a new one, pointed it to 192.168.1.240 and its working fine. But this has happened before and it went back to its spinning wait symbol and unhandled exception thing for another few days after that (until today).

Can I ask how you completely removed MBT - was it just from the Windows control panel or did you have to remove every trace of MBT that you could find ? (I have reinstalled MBT 3 or 4 times but just re-installed over the existing version, will try removing it first if it does it again).

I used Advanced Uninstaller Pro 11 (free program http://www.advanceduninstaller.com/download/). What I like about this program is that after uninstalling, it gives you the option of removing all remaining registry entries and files. This enabled a completely clean reinstall. This morning, I noticed another computer (I have 4 running in the house for various tasks) complaining of IP conflicts, so I am certain DHCP reassignment caused all this havoc.

My MB3 Theater is not heavily customized, and I use MPC-BE as my external player, with heavy MadVR and Lav settings. I did have to reenter the link to mpc-be.exe in MB3 Theater settings after the install, but other than that - easy peasy. As of this morning, MB3 is still running smooth as butter.

Good luck in returning to MediaBrowser nirvana.

Thanks for the advice Galan. Completely uninstalling MBT seems to have done the trick. Didn't need to use Uninstaller Pro, just uninstalling from the control panel and telling it to remove everything when the MBT uninstaller ran seemed to do the trick.
