Lighthammer 80
A few builds back the Android version shifted from the view format it used on the Web Client to using strict folder views.I can't seem to figure out any way to make the Android version show library views and not folder views. Surely this can't be intended as the whole infrastructure of Media Browser is based on the ideal of using libraries over folders and any sort of folder view should be the 'advanced' options (accessible but not shown by default). So my question is:#1.) Is there any way to force the Android version to use Libraries over Folders? #2.) Is this a bug that the Android version uses Folders and not Libraries? #3.) If this is somehow intentionally designed, could we please bake in the option to allow Libraries (again) and Folder views? CBers 6770
I'm not sure what you mean by "use Libraries over Folders". Libraries are just an amalgamation of folders.Do you mean Views, such as all TV shows together or all Movies together, no matter what library they are in?If so, then views were removed from the app some time ago. Lighthammer 80
Yes, I know.I have several folders added to the libraries section which makes my app look like an absolute mess compared to the web client. I want to have the web app and the Android app look as identical as possible and this change really makes an absolute mess out of the Android app for my server.Having the folder view isn't helpful. I need the library views to work the way the web app does. As it stands now, I'm having to use the mobile web app just to find what I'm looking for and then go to the Android app to play the media. I would stick to the Web App exclusively if it wasn't for the fact it can't play through Chromecast.
ebr 14910
I'm sure this is one of the things we'll address as we take on maintenance for this app.
Lighthammer 80
Thanks. Any ETA?Also, would it be faster to get Chromecast support in the mobile web app then focusing on fixing this?I know you guys are offering the Android and iPhone app free right now, though I suspect that's in part because Redshirt is taking a break. It seems like there's a whole bunch more focus on the web app side of things and if chromecast support could be cemented there, I think that might be the cleaniest / quickest fix looking from the outside and guesstimating your development focuses. Thanks as always ebr.
Latchmor 584
... Also, would it be faster to get Chromecast support in the mobile web app ... Hi, it's been a while since I used it but I've used CC from the web app. It wasn't very clear (due to how Chrome handled the CC icon) but it did work. I'll try again when I get home... Lighthammer 80
I don't have the slightest clue how to do this. Hitting the cast button only shows devices other then chromecasts. There's not a way to install a chromecast addon for chrome on Android, is there? There's not a way to install a chromecast addon for chrome on Android, is there? Hi, I remember now and it's a bit of a fiddle/workaround. If you go to the file you want to play and start playing (don't look in the Cast menu) on your mobile, as soon as the file starts to play/transcode a cast icon appears in the bar along the bottom next to the run time. Hit cast and your CC should be there. This may enough to get you going until the new Android App is ready.
Lighthammer 80
Tried that, that works --- but wow ---- is that wonky and ununified. That must have been a bizzaro workaround that I hope was intended to be temporary!@ Luke, glad to hear bud.
