MB3 Connect displays my server, but unable to connect

As the title implies, I'm trying to connect to my server via MBConnect. I installed the beta channel on my Roku, and entered the PIN to login to my connect profile, that all worked fine and it displays my server on the list. But when I click on the server, it comes up saying "Unable to connect"

Any ideas?

Thanks

sounds like it's not getting through your firewall. you may need to configure port forwarding with your router.

The strange thing is, I have no problem accessing my server on my tablet, phone, or my girlfriends phone when outside my LAN. Just the Roku.

Not sure if it would make a difference or not, but I'm testing the Roku away from my LAN by connecting it to the internet via a Mobile Hotspot with my phone. I don't think that should be an issue though, since I was using the Web Client on my tablet yesterday through my mobile hotspot without any problems. (My tablet doesn't support a data connection, so I used my phone as a mobile hotspot)

try to enter the server address manually rather than using Connect. If it works then Connect is reporting an unusable server url for your MBS. if it still doesn't work then it's something else.

so then for some unknown reason it just can't reach your MBS. you'd have to use the zip version to get roku logs and/or see if MBS ever received anything on it's end

How would I go about doing that? I don't normally use the Roku, I'm trying to get it set up for my mom to use at her house. So it's all pretty foreign to me

EDIT: I missed a step, it's installed now. I'll update with my results shortly

For some reason I'm only able to telnet my Roku while it's connected to my LAN. Outside of my network I'm unable to get it to work. Just a flashing green cursor in the corner. I tried running putty from a computer on my LAN, and from my tablet connected to the same Mobile Hotspot as the Roku, neither of which would work, so I'm unable to get a log...

Thanks for trying to help @@Luke, but I think I'll just wait until the Android 10' Client is released, and set that up for my mom, since I know how to get the Android app working properly at her place. I've uninstalled the Roku Zip, and reinstalled the release version to use on my LAN like normal.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on that Droid app soon! :)
