Media folders

Hi, I posted a similar question for Android app and was informed the app was not fully complete/functional yet. So not sure if the same applies to Samsung app.

I still use folder levels to organise and to navigate my media library ie TV shows\Drama\series1 and TV shows\Comedy\series1 and Movies\Kids\movie1 and Movies\3D\movie1 etc.

However when I try to navigate my library via Media Folders option, all files in those categories are amalgamated into a one and the folder structure is not maintained. Makes it alot harder to navigate my collection/setup.

Is this to be expected or am I missing a setting option somewhere?

Thanks

CBers

It's due to the views you have set up in the Dashboard.

If you want separate folders, I think you have to remove TV as a view.

I don't use views so I have, TV, Movies, Classic Movies, Kids Movies, Kids TV etc as my media folders.

.

Thanks @@CBers. I've tried unchecking the group options from my user dashboard but all items continue to be grouped together in either all movies or all tv shows views.

My setup is very similar to yours and I rarely if ever use the views.

Will try settings again tonight as I really need this to work.

Thanks again.

Yeah I would setup Comedy, Kids... as a separate library of type tv. Think that resolves your issue.

@@chessdragon136 yes I might have to consider setting up my library this way if the app is not able to navigate/display multiple folder levels. But I will probably end up with loads of entire in media folder view.

Currently I have movies, tv shows, music etc on the home screen.

Then movies is split further based on language ie english, indian or foreign

And then each language section is split even further into 3d, animation, kids, etc

Tv shows is also split but only by genre, eg drama, comedy, kids etc

Might have to just setup mbc on a htpc if easier.

Thanks for all them help.

Sorry CBers been ill for a few days.

Never used the web client so just checked it now. It also groups all media together (even with group items unchecked) so I'm guessing it's my setup which is probs outdated.

Only ever used MBC (Pearl theme) which works perfect with folder level navigation.

Have you tried adding each sub folder as a separate media library... This should allow you to separate the folders

@@siu99ss2 - in MB, are your Drama and Comedy folder separate libraries?

Or do you have TV Shows as your main TV library?

Can you put up some screenshots of how they are configured in the Library page of the Dashboard.

Hi I've attached screenshots of server library. I've also included pictures from iPad app navigating my library via 'folders' route which works as desired. Also works perfect in Android app (in mobile mode).

All my media subfolders are under single root folders eg movies or tv shows (using flexraid to combine folders into single structure). I'm happy to consider a new library setup if that's the only way forward (with other future apps aswell) as I'm guessing the Samsung app is unable to navigate and display individual folder levels.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Android and iOS are both going to receive updates soon to adopt the user views from the web client, just fyi.

@@CBers - the images are from iOS iPad app, not DLNA

@@Luke - Thanks for the heads up. I think I will spend the weekend experimenting with @@Vidman and others recommendation and upgrade my setup from prehistoric MB2 (folder navigation) to MB3's views-set.

If I added the below into library as type 'movie' would this allow me to keep the sub-folders separate or will they still be all grouped together under eg. english movies?

Movies --> English Movies --> 3D

                                          --> Animation

                                          --> Kids

Movies --> Indian Movies --> 3D

                                          --> Animation

                                          --> Kids

etc..

Yes if you remove the root movies folder from your first screen shot and then add each sub folder as a separate library you will be able to set media browser to show them as separate folders
