Easy way to label 3d movies so they show separate from normal versions?

So I rip everything to MKV but I think I will leave the 3D versions of my rip as .iso.  Is there a way to label the folder or file so that MB server would fetch different metadata?  Or am I left to just go manually choose different artwork for 3D or something like that?

There isn't any different metadata for 3D versions so you will need to just manage them yourself.

i rip my 3d blu-rays using makeMKV. then i rename the .mkv to .mk3d

in Media Browser under meta data I add a tag called 3D and under 3D format pick one of the FSBS or FTAB. If your using Coverart you will then have a nice 3D logo in the corner of your poster.

Agreed, it shouldn't fetch different metadata as the metadata isn't different.  I do the same thing with 3d, MKV for 2d and ISO for 3d.  You will want to go into the metadata editor and edit the name to have (3D) at the end to help make the distinction and/or do what swynol suggested even though that doesn't apply
The bigger PIA to me is that Media Browser doesn't have a method for addressing multiple versions (2d & 3D) of the same movie like this (or multiple versions of the 2d movie like blade runner, Donnie Darko, etc) so you have to create multiple folders with duplicate art and then have multiple items of the same movie taking up room in the main interface.   This is one of the few areas that MyMovies provides a notably better experience for than Media Browser.

Make a collection of the various formats you have.  Then each title only takes one slot in your browsing list.

Certainly an option but this takes extra steps and doesn't actually remove the addition, it just moves it, which is better than having it in the main list but then it clutters up the collections a bit as it isn't a collection, just another version of the same movie.  So it isn't ideal.   It is also a non-ideal solution for movies that take up more than one disc where you have to make entries for part 1 and part 2.

It is far more elegant the way MM handles it as you can see from what it looks like when selecting 'play' (below).  Lots of better things in Media Browser than MM of course but this is one where Media Browser's usability would benefit from the ability to select different versions/files associated with one movie.
