spon 24
Hello, I am a new user for the windows 8.1 app and love the UI. However, I am unable to get anything approaching stable playback when I attempt to play HD content away from my home network. I am currently using hotel wi-fi (admittedly not the fastest connection) and cannot watch any HD content. It will take about 2-3 minutes for the video to load up and then will play ok for a a minute or so before the video freezes. After another minute or so, the video will resume playing, but will once again freeze after a couple of minutes. I am able to play the same videos using the web app with no problem. The quality of the video is not as good, but it plays smoothly without pause. I am running version 3.0.5518.7 of the server and the latest windows 8.1 app. windows app log (i think) - http://pastebin.com/6bTZ6R9J Thanks for any help or suggestions! 7illusions 1249
What the web client does is to transcode the video to a lower quality. You can do this in the app by bringing out the charms menu (swipe from right edge of the screen) and click Settings and then streaming. There you can select a lower quality then the default "Max". Only problem is that you can't change during playback. (yet at least)
