Feature Request SDHomerun

Hi @ @krustyreturns

I have seen rumblings here and your post on the SD Forum, looks like you are working on some really cool stuff !! :)

However a straightforward feature would be of immediate value to the client devs and all HDPrime variations.

It seems that the devs would benefit from just basic stream characteristics and/or device capabilities. Video\audio codecs. As I understand it currently, programmatically the contents of the stream are unknown. So there is no choice but to transcode. If the devs had that info it could be determined if transcoding was even necessary.

It seems like a pretty straightforward thing, without the complexity of manipulating transcode profiles etc that will be great for Extend users but of little value for Basic Prime users.

One thing to add to the list for long term would be Grabbing "Favorites" off the silicondust device. It would be great to set them up just one place and have them flow through. The turner seems like the source of "origin". Just a thought.

Thanks for considering my request.

Hi @@Vicpa,

SD forum?  Link please, I need to know what I am working on too :) .

I think Luke and company are working on the only transcoding when needed request.  On the swmc side (which is all I can really talk about) the picture is:

1) When not running in dlna mode (i.e. swmc is repackaging the stream to 'ts' format) swmc does send to mbs fairly detailed a/v stream info it has found.  This has been the case for quite some time now.

2) When running in dlna mode, which I think is your main interest, swmc doesn't interject itself at all, it just figures out the best tuner device for mbs to use and hands mbs an address for this device.  So in this case mbs needs to figure out the stream info.

3) The newest feature, not yet release, is to support si-dust devices that transcode, so that the tuner is providing mbs the pre-trascoded stream. In this case swmc sets the profile to use (based on mbs/user settings) and sends this address to mbs.

That probably doesn't address what you asking for, but its the current state of things on my end.

I could extract the favorites channels form si-dust (I assume) but I can't control what mbs decides is a favorites channel - that currently doesn't exist in its live-tv interface.  All I could do is give you an option to only import the favorites into mbs.

Hey

That would be a great start! They have to exist before Emby does something with them. Great not to have to do them manually.

May be flagged on channel lineup

http://xxxxxxx.168.1.102/lineup.html or another dlna thing. They show up as separate folder when opened as dlna device.

if you have the hdhr h264 transcoding model, please try the latest dev server build and post the server log. i've dumped out the media info reported from ServerWmc to the log. If you can get me that it will help me get started. if you don't have that model then nevermind.
