tman 47
So, the Nexus Player is now available in the UK - from Amazon at the moment (bit ironic). I've been reading up some more on it, and while the potential is there, there do seem to be some cause for concern about certain missing features; No ethernet port - I do believe you can get a USB to Ethernet adapter for it though. Doesn't currently support 5.1/7.1 bitstream passthrough (stereo only?), even if connected through a receiver Doesn't support 23.976 movie playback. I believe it actually does 24P, but has minor judder because of this. Could be other things too, and they could be fixed by firmware updates, but considering the player has already been out in the US for a few months, it's just a little bit concerning. Still up in the air about either this or the Fire TV. For the low price, I might just try out the Fire TV Stick to see how that shapes up. I guess any version of Emby for the NP will have to function within the limitations of the player at the moment.

ebr 14905
While it won't bitstream, the NP will put out 5.1 surround via PCM.
