Hi all,

I installed embysync about an hour ago, it completed its first database sync for my TV shows, it hasn't down the movies at all.

I can see all the images and files within my TV shows no problem, it's got all the information that it needs to have.

However the problem I have got it that it won't play any thing it states that the file is missing and would I like to remove it from the library, tried with different episodes from different shows and it's the same everything, I have got my path locations username and password in the mediabrowser config page. Also on a reboot it is constantly syncing the whole database again going through every show and every episode again, even thou it's already in the data base on kodi. Along with the fact there are still no movies syncing to kodi, it comes up with the syncing of playstates all the time even thou there are no movies in the database.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance Scalda.

Just have some patience and wait for an official announcement

I was given the information for the add on by a Dev member to try out as I use kodi on a daily base as my one and only source of media, along with 4 other clients running kodi in my house. And as I can't comment in the Dev forum I thought I would put the problems here to help you guys out. Also this is also something I commented about MB should do back before it was available for Linux, so I have been waiting along time for this and I would like to help.

Appreciate the enthusiasm, but no point testing when there are obvious bugs.

Just give us a bit..

Well what ever you guys pushed to github a little while ago has fixed most of the problems now, even the paths for the video files so I can now watch things again thanks very much.

Works great, accept the DB sync notification shows up when it's running through and ignores the settings in the addon to not show, as I have to cancel it when ever I want to watch something as it continuously runs and shows what it's doing

I let it run for about 10 hours while I slept last night so that should be more then long enough to complete I haven't got that much of a large library

It has synced everything to kodis database already as everything is showing up so is the play counts so the info is there and so are the files even the latest stuff from say last night are in the database and showing on kodi

You have to let it run all the way to the end at least once or it will keep bringing up the dialog progress box. Once it runs once you should not see the pop up dialog again unless you select it in the settings as the indication method.

I just tried out this beta and it's syncing as we speak.  While that's fine, 1) I have no clue what it's syncing... it just started doing something and never told me what's happening from a user perspective, and 2) I would prefer the experience be that after I install, I can use the addon right away and not be "forced" to have to wait for the sync to complete.  Can the sync be more of an optin or a prompt (yes/no) upon first launch vs. forcing it on me?  Definitely causes frustration to have to wait.

Short answer is No, if you want that functionality continue to use the other addon. We will make an announcement soon with what to expect on install etc.

I still strongly encourage you to consider this... at a minimum a yes/no prompt upon first launch to ask if they want to sync.  It will bring raspberry pi to its knees and I don't know why you'd want to do that if there's simple things that can be done to avoid it.  Maybe I'm missing something, but only downside I can think of is if the sync is critical to drive the addon's functionality (which isn't true correct?).  Up to you... I'll continue to use the old addon for now.

Yes your missing something, it actually is a big step up in performance on Lower powered devices such as the PI. Expect an announcement soon where you can read up on what it does and decide if it's for you or not.

Works fine on a raspberry pi I've got it on 3 so far. I just keep getting the sync thing showing up on my main one

Hello,

as described in an another thread, the addon isn´t working for me. I only get the script error on startup. Attached you can find the Kodi.log.

I think this is may be similar to a problem another user had.  Please try renaming your advancedsettings.xml file temporarily and try again.

I have found if you just run the sync on a Windows or other machine you can copy across the DB to a slower device like the pi and it works fine

That's a good tip, but probably more for the advanced user. We may eventually add MySQL support for shared databases (which is also quite advanced!)

I suppose if you was going to go for the shared database trick if you wanted, wouldn't a plug in on the server be better just to tie straight into the shared sql but still have the same functions as the add-on, as then kodi would read from the database anyway and then there would be no need for the add-on to run via the client.

but this would be for the more advanced users.

hope you understand what I'm trying to get across

Keep up the great work.

Yeah that would be best but Kodi doesn't yet support that scenario yet. Maybe sometime in the future it will...

For now the sync runs on your Kodi client but doesn't have any impact on performance. Main advantage of this approach is that it is mobile; If you want to connect remotely to your Emby server it will also work

what could also be interesting is creating the db on the server and then gradually keeping it in sync with changes. then the addon just has to do a straight download rather than a sync process. although i think the sync process might be specific to the users on the kodi installation, so the server wouldn't be able to predict that obviously.

Yeah, that's correct. I was at first thinking of some C# application on the server emulating (or manipulating) the MySQL database of Kodi but the database is way to undocumented for that. Currently we're just using a handfull of direct DB calls and use the Kodi json API for most tasks
