dafunke 22
I have noticed a couple things related to rewinding and fast forwarding when transcoding. I understand the we can only fast forward as far as the transcoding has been performed. It's annoying but not a huge deal. However, I used to use Plex and that was not the case. I'm not sure why something similar could not be implemented in Emby. The bigger problem is rewinding. If the movie is still transcoding and I press rewind, it starts rewinding from the end of where it has transcoded to. In other words, if I am 10 minutes into a movie and it has transcoded 30 minutes, if I hit rewind, it starts to rewind from the 30 minute mark. Very strange and a big pain when I just want to rewind a few seconds if I missed something that was said. That brings me to a final point. There is work being done to throttle / pause transcoding so that the system doesn't transcode unnecessarily. I understand that allows for more users, etc, but I'm concerned that will make fast forwarding on the Roku unusable. If it only stays a minute ahead and then pauses transcoding, I'll only be able to fast forward 1 minute at a time. Thanks! Greg
Luke 37028
That's not true. you can fast forward as much as you like and the transcoder will adjust. there should be no problems rewinding either. please make sure you're using the official roku channel: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/8001-emby-for-roku-channel/
dafunke 22
Ugh. Yup, I had both installed and didn't realize it. I thought I was using the right one but it was the older app. Sorry for being "that guy" and thanks for your help!

dafunke 22
I just want to reiterate my thanks. I'm not 100 % sure whether your response was somewhat sarcastic or not haha. But as a software architect myself I can say that the most frustrating part of my job is users (such as myself apparently) spreading false information about your product. So it may seem like not a big deal... but it does to me in a weird professional level. I'm sure you're aware of the frustrations users have with your competition. I am one of the quiet users who agree with those frustrations and decided to move on. I truly appreciate your time and I hate to be someone who has wasted it. i appreciate the fact that you scour these forums and jump in to give help, even though it's probably the 100th time you've given the same solution. So... I want to thank you and your developers for putting out a great product you can all be incredibly proud of.
