Been using MBT since it was released to public. I really like the UI as does the family. The Movie and TV themes are especially nice!

I have the server running on a Zotac and MBT running on an i7 Windows 8 machine with plenty of power.

There is 16TB storage

At the moment I am running the beta 3.0.5115 server.

Here is my experience so far.......

Video: (I have 1000+ movies on server)

When using the internal video player I can not seem to get it to not jutter, therefore I use the madvr which makes the jutter go away.

But, when using madvr, I now get audio out of sync. To try and fix this, I use reclock which more or less allows us to watch a video with out the distraction of the sync issue but doesn't completely fix it.

Utlimately, I now use the external player option using MPC player with madvr and lav filters. It is smooth playing without the audio sync issues.

Sadly, when using MPC I can not use the movie or TV themes as they are in mp4 format as are most of my movies. It  also loads the themes into the external player. This is OK but there is no UI so we have to stop the theme and return to MBT to finally hit the Play button. I have turned off the themes for now.

Also, scrolling through all those movies is time consuming.

Music: (800+ albums)

All my music is in flac format.

MBT only allows for 1 song to be played.

(although when hitting the Play button sometimes it will play an entire album but seems to jump around randomly and cuts songs off).

I also use the external player option to load JRMC and then play the music through it. Once done, I close JRMC and it returns to MBT.

I know this all is still very new and still being developed.

Thanks for your efforts and looking forward to video/music advances.

^^Precisely.

All of this has been discussed in other threads, and is actively being worked on by the dev team.

Just saw this had over 100 views, and no responses, so I thought they deserved some sort of answer.

For me the progress is fantastic....

The only thing I would like is the ability to be able to search thou my films and that's about it....

personally I have no interest in live tv as my broadband is very poor...

For a program that's in development its very impressive and ive now gone away from MBC in favour of MBT

Since initial post I have tried numerous configurations.

Where I am at the moment is running the server on my Asus i7 Windows 8 and the client on the Zotax Zbox and Roku box.

I have switched my Zotac over to using the OpenELEC/XBMC image and using the XBMB3C plugin with Aeon Nox skin to access the MB3 server.

XBMC runs video quite well and until MBT gets optimized I will probably stick with this configuration.

I have also tried the Plex server/client options and have also run those off a OpenELEC/Plex image using the Aeon skin that has been adapted.

It worked pretty well but at the moment is slow loading the database to the client.

Still in pursuit of the ultimate HTPC combo.

I have been a contributing user since the WMC plugin days and I just stumbled upon the new MBT which I love.  The GUI is incredible and clean!  I have had zero issues playing any video file, even ones with HD audio.  That being said, the music player and photo gallery are in rough shape.  I agree that playing FLAC files are hit and miss.  I really want to love MBT, but it always seems that there is never one program that can do it all.  I appreciate the hard work that is put into the development, but part of me doesn't really understand why there is focus put into features like voice commands when there are core components that are unusable.  I get that there is a need to extend the product to as many devices as possible, but I think for a lot of HTPC users, there is a search for the "Holy Grail" of applications that will take care of everything.  Can we just let WMC take care of the live TV?  It does it beautifully and easily.  No worries there.  I feel like there is less and less emphasis on live TV these days.  Again, I love the design and all of the video components, but I would really like to see some progress made in the music and photo sections.  I'll give some money to help this along.  Thanks.
