How to have an external media player window open on top

Hi

I have just started using Mediabrowser and I am finding it a wonderful program. I have an issue about using PowerDVD 13 as an external media player and wondered if anybody can advise on a solution.

PowerDVD has two modes: normal and cinema. Normal mode is for desktop use and has an option for always on top. Cinema mode is for use with an IR remote. Unfortunatley this mode has no always on top setting.

I launch Mediabrowser from Windows Media Center on Windows 8.1. PowerDVD is configured as an external player. If I have PowerDVD set to cinema mode it players the movie underneath the Mediabrowser window. If I swap to normal mode the PowerDVD window will start in front of the Mediabrowser window.

Turning the splash screen on did not help and I have minimise Windows Media Centre option set to on in the Mediabrowser configurator.

Is there a way to minimise the Mediabrowser window when starting an external media player? That way I could use PowerDVD in cinema mode and have the picture visible.

Many thanks

You have to select the "Minimize Windows Media Center" option.

I note that you will find another problem with using PDVD as an external player; when you stop the movie PDVD window stays open and will not close on its own. I you use a keyboard/mouse you can just close it manually. If you use a programmable remote, you can program the windows key combo ALT+F4 to close the active window. I reported this to PDVD

For this poor integration with MB Classic I find PDVD is not a good external player. I have posted tis on PDVD forums

For me I still use Arcsoft Total Media Theater as a external player for my 3D movies (Other movies playback perfectly without any external player).  It has much better integration. Problem is that it has been discontinued, but you maybe able to find a download somewhere.

The latest PowerDVD 14 still has the bug in that when in cinema mode the "always on top" setting is ignored and it disappears behind the MBC window. The good news is that PowerDVD14 in normal mode the buttons on the remote control work now as expected, stop, pause play etc so I have no need for the cinema mode anymore.
