Locoblade 0
Hi Could somebody advise how to configure either the client or server so that a TV series will continuously play rather than stopping at the end of each episode? I've got lots of Kids TV programs that are only short so manually having to select a new episode every 5 minutes is a real pain thanks
AgileHumor 123
Press * over a season or series to play all. Does not appear to work per others posts below (as it works with Media Browser Classic) Edited January 30, 2015 by AgileHumor
Locoblade 0
Cheers, maybe doing it at the wrong place but * doesn't seem to do anything for me? I've tried highlighting the Season 1 along the top banner so the episodes are greyed out then pressing it, and also pressing it whilst selecting an episode within that season, neither seem to do anything? Koleckai Silvestri 1150
As far as I am aware, the Roku client has never supported continuous playback. The '*' button brings up Closed Captioning while in an episode and does nothing on the series level. Would be a nice feature.
Lindsay 0
I'm having a similar problem with continuous playback with Roku. Admitted that I haven't used MB3 in several weeks, beforehand I was able to select continuous playback via preferences. Since the updates this is no longer an option for me. Pressing * results in no action on my end. Help anyone?
gcw07 347
Continuous playback has never been in the Roku. You must be thinking of MB Classic, which as far as I know still supports it.
Locoblade 0
Hmm, do you know if there might be any plans to incorporate it as it seems a rather basic function not to have available?
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
The developers are working on refactoring some things in the Roku app so they can add additional features like this. It may end up relying on playlist functionality in the server as well. Depends on what they can figure out in the architecture. Hopefully it will be added in the not to distant future. gcw07 347
Yeah this would really depend upon server playlist functionality. The problem is, is the Roku can't handle multiple HLS feeds (transcoded files) in their internal playlist system according to the documentation. This means unless everything was direct play, you couldn't build a playlist. So really we would need it built into the server where you queue up X items, we grab just one, at the end, we grab the next and queue it up, repeat. gcw07 347
Yes, that is what it would have to do, but since you can't load things up, you would need to request the next one from somewhere after the first finished. So it would go something like, send these 10 episodes to a server playlist, grab first one, play it. At end of file, request the next one from the server, load it up and play it, etc.

gcw07 347
This plays episodes already viewed. It would be nice to continue where I left off and let the videos keep playing one after the other in the same folder (series). I recently switched from XBMC and really miss this functionality. It would be nice if this could be added as a future selectable option. The roku doesn't have a play all or anything like that. MB Classic does. Your best bet is to use the "Next Episode to Watch" area. That refreshes each time you come out of playing a video and exiting the details page. So it will kick it to the next episode there, but it does require button clicks.
AgileHumor 123
Thanks all, I edited the post on the top to reflect * does not work on the Roku. Sadly, I only use classic and assumed incorrectly.
BAS 225
Investing in two Roku streaming sticks, this feature is desperately needed here from the wife at night. She likes to play her favorite tv shows on random play at bed time.
gcw07 347
The problem is, the Roku can't play videos in a playlist. There isn't support for that. While I do have a work around and it works great for the intros plugin, it wouldn't work great for continuous playback at the moment because when you exited it would just kick off the next video. So it would require say you had 10 videos to go, would require 10 exits.
BAS 225
So not going to be an option for her, guess she will have to learn how to suffer thru it as her 360 is on its last leg and the echo is garbage when it comes to video support. I was goin to turn the echo into her live tv/recorded tv because of copy once issues and the roku into her media browser box.

Yeah, it is something I'm still trying to figure out a good work around for. I can't say I won't find one eventually, just haven't so far. But plan to keep looking at it. BAS, maybe you could mention this use case over to EBR for MB3 plus....if your wife is viewing watched TV (not new unwatched). http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/4167-mbplus-gauging-interest/?p=84933

HelloEvie 0
I know it was possible before; my Mom had the first Roku and I remember watching The Office straight through from season 1-10 (no judging; i was visiting as she was in the ICU, and I needed a LOT of background noise and distraction. Plus, Dwight.) Anyway, so if it was possible on hers, what might have enabled it to do that? I recently got the Roku 2 and it won't; I've been wracking my brain trying to think of how hers was perhaps set up differently.
Luke 37008
it should play continuous now. actually i think the issue is there's no option to turn it off.
