Some of my backdrops are from horror movies, which are not suitable for children to see. Is there any way to customize what is displayed, or disable the screensaver all together? TIA

not at the moment, I have raised this before and I think it was on one of the low priority list

Bump.

I have unchecked the screensaver option box in the configurations menu, restarted both the software and the PC, returned to the MBC software, confirmed that screensaver is not enabled and yet the screensaver continues to start up. Any way to make the screensaver permanently stay off? I'm running the latest version of MBC available as of this posting. Win7 Pro 64bit.

Workaround that I use. Make a "children" with no password and access only to child friendly stuff. When you're done watching, log out. Now the kids only get child friendly screen saver images, and can't watch anything adult.

What I also note is that since some time the screen saver is only showing on the PC but not on the TV itself. I am not sure when it changed - in the beginning it was showing the Screen Saver on the TV if I pause a movie too long. Anyone know the cause for this?

For Media Browser Theater,  We are  working on the screen saver infrastructure now.

Part 1 -  select between 1. No Screensaver 2. Use ScreenSaver (current one you see) 3. Logo screen saver

so just use logo screen saver, and there will be no problem with inappropriate images

Part 2.

Add new photo screen saver

Add screen saver options - i.e which folders, types of images, ratings (PG etc)

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but any idea when this might come? I would really like to give MBT a good try but my family is so addicted to the WMC photo screensaver that there is no way I can switch over. I hope it'll be as cool (if not cooler?) than the WMC one.

I've been waiting for some architecture changes to be completed by tom before I resumed development, but I would be happy to finish the photo screen saver. I've done the basic work but have not put it into production because it need a bit of tuning. I've based it on the Apple TV photo screen saver. Why don't you send post a bunch of screen shots you like from the WMC screen saver and I'll see what I can do. it will be about a month, because tomorrow I off to fiji for a 2 week holiday with my family

Here is a video I took showing what WMC's screensaver looks like. As you can see, it has some sort of 2 dimensional layout of all your pictures (I have thousands so you only see a subset) and it meanders in B+W in a zoomed out view to one of the pictures, then zooms in to the picture. It then shows anywhere between 1 and 4 pics from that same period of time. Then moves on to a new picture (i.e. rinse and repeat). You can see all of this in the video I linked below.

I like the way it lets you see the pics up close but it's also sort of mesmerizing to watch it randomly move through a bunch of zoomed out pictures until it selects one. I wasn't too impressed with the youtube video I saw of what Apple TV does. It doesn't seem to show pictures up close and stop on one to let you get a good look. If the Apple TV style is all you do I'd probably at least give it a try but my first impression is that I probably would go back to WMC to get that screensaver instead. Hopefully you'll like WMC's and want to do something like that, or at least incorporate some of the coolness of it into yours.

Thanks for considering it! If you need anyone to do some testing, feel free to contact me.
