You just got a FR from me, aka Mahnogard. I rarely do MP but someday I might, and I'm trying to convert my Steam friends list to people I sort of "know" instead of just random people.

LOL I expected to hit 300 during the Summer Sale but my games budget ran out before I got there. I suspect I'll be treating myself for my birthday later this month, though. :D Books and games are my two weaknesses.

I've had a hectic last couple of months... 2 relatives passed away, one in May and the other at the end of June... so my mum and I had to do all of the planning, arranging and so forth along with gazillion other things that need to be done for the second one as it was my dads brother and he had no other family, and had made his wishes known to us... and he lived and died 200 miles away

But that's a discussion for another time and place... my actual point is.

Because of all that.. I very nearly missed the steam sale entirely... I just had a pause for about 36hrs between the 30th and 31st of June where I noticed it was on and managed to grab a couple of games. Hitman absolution and Fallout Las Vegas which I got for around £10 in total.

Last year I spent about £25 in total and ended up with something like 15 games... I refuse to buy any games at full price any more unless it's something I must have... Like a Sid Meier's Civilisation game.

Sorry for your loss, Heckler.

I, too, very rarely buy at full price. No reason to except for those rare games that I'm salivating for a year before release. According to info gleaned from steamdb, I've spent about 25% of what my Steam library is actually worth.

Hitman Absolution. I know a lot of people like the game but I couldn't get through the first part. I won't tell you why until you report back as to whether or not you like the game. Assuming either of us remember this conversation by then. (I don't know about you, but it can take me a while to getting around to playing new games.)

Fallout: New Vegas, on the other hand, is one of my favorite games EVER! I love anything with a Westernish theme, and I've got mods installed to make it even more so. In some ways, it's dated, but in other ways it's timeless. I acknowledge, however, that it is an acquired taste, but I do hope you like it. :)

I love almost any open-world game that allows mods. I've created my own mods but I'd rather use other people's mods because by the time I finish a mod, I don't feel like playing. (Plus I just suck at navmeshing, and most of the mods I make are player homes.)  As we speak, I'm downloading a fresh batch of mods for a new character I've got planned for Skyrim.

Most of my favorite games were either published or developed by Bethesda, now that I think about it. And I'm getting massively impatient for Fallout 4. THAT is a game I will buy as soon as it's for sale. Even if they pull a Witcher and start selling it a year ahead of time.

When it comes to open world games, Just Cause 2 is great fun... I picked it up last year for about £3

I'm anticipating the new Sid Meier's civ game, finally we are getting a sequel to show what happens after you leave/win in Civ... Alpha Centauri back in the 90's was a bit of a flop... I'm really hoping that you can load a Civ 5 save game into the new one and start with the resources and such that you won the game with in Civ 5... Now that would be epic.  :)

I would be excited about FarCry 4... but as much as I enjoyed FC3, their failure to patch the game and remove the constant call home to servers that no longer exist is unforgiveable... But then what do you expect from Ubisoft, which is why I refuse to legitimately purchase their games unless they're on sale on steam at less than £4.... I still played them upon release though.... I erm... evaluated them to see if they were worth owning.  :)

Sorry for your loss as well.

I can't even keep track of what games I play anymore lol. I think right now im in the middle of playing through Mirrors Edge, Mass Effect 2, Skyrim, Southpark, Outlast, Lost planet, and uh, I dunno what else.

I loved Fallout 3, since I lost the disc I got it on the steam sale along with New Vegas, which I havnt played yet. Bethesda really does make great games, I get completely immersed in them, I sat on Skyrim when I got it for like 3 full straight days (which is a lot for me). I was excited for Elder Scrolls Online but I heard its terrible and I never got a beta invite to try it. But man the mods are great for these games, I dont make any myself but Skyrim is absolutely beautiful now. Sucks my 560Ti cant handle some of the mods on their max settings without dropping to like 30 FPS.

I've only bought 3 games full price in the past few years, Black Ops (ugh) and BF3 / BF4 with premium.

Typically I play MMOs and online FPS games the most, but I love a good single player.

Best Games I played the past few years for single player I think were Dead Space 3, Tomb Raider, ME series, and I gotta throw Skyrim in there. Got infected by a vampire, then got turned into a werewolf instead, so awesome!

I wishlisted JC2. That's one I should already have but keep passing over for some reason.

That is a really cool idea about transferring the Civ V ending stuff. I've been playing the series since Civ III. Hated IV, but I love V.

I bought Far Cry 3 not too long after release. Took me THREE DAYS to activate the damned game so that I could play it, and by then I was so mad I didn't care anymore. I swore off anything that requires Uplay after that, but I think I ended up with a few in my library anyway. (I now use Enhanced Steam, which displays a giant red warning on the game page about any 3rd party DRM.)

I own Tomb Raider but haven't played it yet, and I adore the ME series. A friend of mine talked me into them, and they are the sole reason I have Origin installed on my computer. I gotta say, I hate EA's DLC nonsense, but in this one case, it was totally worth all the money spent. I own every piece of DLC for ME (except the preorder and limited items) and I don't regret a single bit of it. I'm both hopeful and nervous about the next entry in the Mass Effect world. EA just doesn't make good choices very often these days.

I so suck at driving the Mako. I do more damage to it just trying to drive than the Geth do shooting at me.

OK, what's enhanced steam and where do I get it.

http://www.enhancedsteam.com/

Related Steam Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/enhancedsteam

Browser extension for Chrome or FF, and a standalone is in beta that works with the client. I use the Chrome extension because I find the client to be less than efficient for shopping activities.

It also highlights games you own or have wishlisted, can hide Early Access games and other stuff... It is the most awesome thing ever, really. :D

Whats the scariest game you've played?

I have to go with either outlast or dead space. Though im only an hour into Outlast, its pretty damn creepy. Dead space seemed to terrify me for the first 2, the 3rd was more action.

Late at night, alone, lights off, headphones on.

I use Metro too! I was actually about to ask if anyone else was using client skins. :)

Oddly, even though I'm a major fan of horror in general, I don't think I own any horror games, per se. But I've had plenty of scares in other games. In the new Thief, there's one chapter that's so creepy I had to keep taking "reality breaks".

In Skyrim, I often play with the music off and thus have no early warning system. I've nearly crapped my pants more than once when getting jumped from behind by a saber cat. Bioshock gave me a few jumpscares, and I've gotten ambushed in the dark by deathclaws in Fallout: New Vegas. (I play most moddable games with some sort of darker nights mod, and usually darker dungeons as well - leads to all kinds of creepy / startling encounters.)

I know right! what is it with Skyrim, everything just loves creeping around, It seems every time im trying to take a screenshot I get attacked by a dragon or wolf or something lol. Makes you appreciate how far games have come, They couldnt really make games scary back when they had 8 bit graphics :P

Unrelated, but I think this has to be the most badass looking mount in any game.

Yep, that's badass. Although, I have to say that my Queen Allie (the Whiterun horse) looks pretty badass in her horse armor. (I'm mod crazy. I usually have 100 installed at any time.)

Later, I'll post a link to some of my screenshots. Right now, I have to go through Bleak Falls Barrow for the 4,854th time. With no HUD, because I'm trying Immersive HUD. Fortunately, I have pretty much all of Skyrim committed to memory.

I still dont have a horse in Skyrim, I have the werewolf mod and just change into that and sprint around :P. Love to see it later though, I only have like 30 or so mods, but Im also still on my first playthrough.

Honestly thats probably why I stopped playing it much, werewolf mod was fun but kinda ruined to game for me since I murdered like everyone in the world :P I should probably just start over without that mod lol.

Persephone riding Allie in her horse armor.  Just uploaded some others as well. I usually upload gaming screenshots to minus (http://mahnogard.minus.com/) but I'm feeling lazy at the moment so I just uploaded to Steam. :D I'm a pretty heavy roleplayer when I play, and right now I'm just getting to Dragon Rising so that her actual story can start. (I just pretend the beginning never happened.)

Yeah, killing everyone in Skyrim has a way of dampening the fun factor. But hey, at least you aren't one of those players posting, "I killed that annoying guy in Riverwood and now everyone is trying to kill me! This game suxxxx!"

Usually when I go wolf, I don't do much with it. If I'm honest, I really just do it to play the questline and for the disease resistance. But one time I made up my mind that I was gonna go out the back door of the underforge and kill the first person I saw. You know, roleplay the whole "out of control noob werewolf" thing.

The first person I saw was Talsgar the Wanderer. That guy is the Chuck Norris of Skyrim. I managed to survive, and killed him, but I felt so completely awful about it that I reloaded my previous save and killed a cow instead.
