MBC Entrypoints for specific folders?

So...I've got MBC setup on Win 7 Media Center, and I'm trying to customize the Start menus and remote button mappings a bit. I saw this post on reddit from a year ago, and I was wondering if this type of functionality is still possible:

http://www.reddit.com/r/htpc/comments/1a5gb9/launch_mediabrowser_entrypoints_from_remote/

Basically, I would like to launch MBC and automatically go into one of my configured folders (Movies, TV, etc) instead of landing on the EHS. It seems like it was possible in the past, but I never experimented with it then. Is it still something possible to do?

Also, as a side question, is it possible to launch MBC and never exit? I ask this because when I'm navigating the menus, I often times will hit the back button repeatedly to get to the EHS and go into a different folder. Sometimes I hit the back button 1 extra time, and it will exit MBC (I know there is an option to enable/disable the "quit" dialog...I don't want that enabled). To get back into MBC I need to launch it again, which can take a while sometimes. I was hoping there was a way to basically leave it running all the time while WMC is open, and the back button would just take me to the WMC Start Menu instead of exiting. Is that possible either?

Thanks.

MBC has an option to ask to exit/logoff/shutdown (Which is the option you mention I believe).  If you have that enabled pressing back will just close the dialogue.  Aa for Entry point they longer exist as far as I know.  The are to hard to maintain from what I understand.

That is just what jhoff80 said, a workaround. However it is not supported by mediabrowser, and new versions of MBC may at any update break functionality of the workaround, and you will have to reinstitute the workaround.

Strictly speaking this is not an MB3 workaround, the add-on is a WMC add-on, Using that and MCE Themer to set up the entry points should have very little impact on MB3.

It's not perfect. You need to set up different content in different accounts - for examples I have tv under my 'videos' account and films in my 'movies' account, with another account for all content. I've just added another account for channels in MBC so I can use the ITV player.

The entry points work on first entry into mediabrowser. If you use the green button to get back to WMC and pick another entry point, it takes you straight back to the account you were in. So to switch from films to TV (eg) I need to use the change user option in the MB3 menu bar. Its not too much of a hardship.

I'm not really sure what that means... how is this not an MB3 workaround?

You give up all user-based functionality in order for this particular approach to work.  For most, I think that is too much to give up but everyone can have their own opinion.

I have never felt that the EHS provided a better interface to my media than an entry point. Not to say that I don't keep an eye on the improvements you make (I'm intrigued by MB Plus) and may change my mind in the future, but not for now. I get that you don't want entry points.

The original thread on entry point workaround says -

I've created a tiny MCE Addin to solve this issue.

In short, it just launches MB Classic with a specific profile.

Not an expert, but this is why I think this has minimal impact for MB3. Any impact is on the user, as I described in my earlier post.

I agree.

I fully understand the developers intentions with the EHS, and it makes perfect sense.

Personally however, I also prefer entry points and still use MB2 without EHS on my main lounge MC purely for entry points. I have a large collection with many new TV items added daily; the manner in which I arrange my collections accessible through entry points, just makes the whole experience very simple with the least amount of button clicks.

That said, I do also use MB3; for remote access and the Roku's and in this regard it's exceptional.

Thank you, this has worked exactly the way I wanted it to. I understand that you lose most of the profile benefits by forcing you into separate profiles for each section of your library...but for my setup, it is worth it.

One problem I am having though - when I try to launch one of the mb3launcher entries I've created in the start menu on a Xbox 360 extender, I get a message saying "mb3launcher has stopped responding...". This only happens on 1 of my 2 extenders though. The first extender works fine, but the 2nd one is having this problem. Is there something I need to correct on the server for the different extender accounts?

Thanks.

I answered this in PM too, but in my case it was because you haven't ever logged in as those profiles on that extender yet.
