I sent a review request to wpcentral.com to try and get them to review Scott's new Windows Phone app.

Not sure if it would help if other people send requests or if they will just decide based on how cool the app is.

I'll email rich tomorrow (he's a friend). I ha e a couple of other sites that have said they'll blog about it.

Just saw the post on wpcentral and have been answering some questions/leaving comments. Hopefully we get new users.

For anyone interested, MediaBrowser currently has many developers each working on different platforms.

Platforms

  • MediaBrowser iOS
  • MediaBrowser Windows Phone
  • MediaBrowser Android
  • MediaBrowser Roku
  • MediaBrowser Theater:  Meant to replace MediaCenter on windows machines at some point considering Microsoft no longer updates it.
  • Windows 8 Modern app:  Just recently they recruited a developer that will create a modern app version of MediaBrowser for the Windows 8 store.
  • Mono-Linux: They have also started preliminary development on a MONO port (Linux) for the server for those of you that don't want to run the server on a Windows PC.

Plugin Support

  • GameBrowser:  Allows you to have a "steam big picture" type mode that allows you to play all your emulated and PC games from one place.
  • MB Bookshelf: Access all your mobi, epub, pdf, cbr and cbz books/comics

So as you can see MediaBrowser is being planned on playing everywhere, access your media anywhere. You wont be tied down to any one platform. It is basically your own private netflix/pandora. The MediaBrowser team is also always looking to recruit new developers to come join and contribute to the project helping to expand its reach and feature set so if you are interested drop by.

If you are interested in learning about how to setup and get started using MediaBrowser please visit the community at http://mediabrowser.tv/community/

For interested developers please visit

Wrote this description to be used as a generic explanation of what MB is. Feel free to use it anywhere or if you have any suggestions on what to change or add let me know.

This is great to see these apps getting recognition outside of our circle. Hopefully it draws in more users and dev interest.

Background here

Website here

I used the initial beta but didn't like it, especially as it was XBMC centric.

Support is possible but we need someone to pick it up :)

I have no programming skills so I hope one of the devs or a new dev will pick this up.

Anyone know any good gaming blogs or forums that focus on retro/older games, and with decent traffic?

@@xnappo, anytime you promote the add-on you should also mention the xbmc metadata management capabilities that MB3 has. I think the "two for one" will be appealing, with both of them helping draw attention to the other.

Agree, let's definitely mention the metadata management. It is now compatible with XBMC, which will be a huge plus for many. I cannot live without XBMC client, but love the MBS server for transcoding to mobile devices and for meta data management. Also worth mentioning that it is the ONLY metadata manager that can do music and not only movies and shows.

Below the key threads on XBMC forums:

Personally, being a long time XBMC user, the biggest feature I'm looking forward to is the XBMC music support in the XBMC Saver plugin.

Once the XBMC Saver plugin handles Artist and Album nfo's compatible with XBMC you will see a massive influx of people from the XBMC camp. A third party app to manage local music metadata has been long awaited and sought after.

I thought I followed the xbmc wiki when building the music nfo's but apparently i must have missed something. can you find out what's missing, and post about it in the plugin area? thanks. also, if you could let me know how we're doing on image file names for music that would be great too. again, i followed the wiki, but i'm not sure how up to date it is. thanks.

Also, while you're at it, it sounds like you might be able to help here:
