Loopback Address Polling in log

Hi

This has been going on for a while (not related to new beta), see below. What is this? As you can see every 10 sec this shows up. Is there something wonky with my OS settings(Win 8.1) or is expected behavior? I don't remember enabling the loopback address, stranger things have happened though. Any help to disable it would be appreciated. It makes it harder to check(find) things in the log if there is a problem.

Are you running the server on a HTPC or any other device capable of accepting DLNA content ?

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the server is running  on  Win 8.1 pro, It is capable of receiving DLNA content. I have removed all DLNA devices, except for my network tuner. MBS doesn't show as a device.

Any logs etc you need ?

I'm not a dev so only doing educated guesses :P But if you are running the server on a machine that can also play media via DLNA then I don't "think" these are errors, MBS is only trying to find out what kind of dlna device is on that machine (which in this case happens to be the same as the server). But then again only guessing :)

It is a pretty good guess, but if it is doing that, it is wrong. I have verified that the loopback address is not enabled in--the hosts file, the win 8 tool to enable loopback for metro apps(see the win 8 forum) and shut off all media sharing in the HomeGroup settings. It still does the same polling. Short of disabling services, I don't know what else to try.

It appears that on startup the server enumerates all the "network" interfaces, Ethernet, wireless, Bluetooth and the loopback. Then creates a SDP listener on each interface it finds as "up". In my case one of the Ethernet ports and the loopback.

Why the loopback address is considered up, I don't know, unless it is always up.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe someone running the server on Win 8 can chime in with what they see. I am working on the assumption that something is wonky with my setup.

Thanks, In the interim I have just disabled DLNA, not an ideal choice.
