I've tried and tried, and even after a clean install of beta 5323 (for Windows, running on Windows Server 2012 R2), none of my devices can see very much of my content via DLNA. For my latest test with the beta, and the attached log file is from this, I added just one media folder, TV and pointed at the root of my TV folder. All my shows are separate folders, within that are all the episodes for each one (no separate folder per season) and most of which are .mkv containers with some .avi.

I have tried wtih my Samsung TVs (D8000 and F6400, latest firmwares), my Android Nexus 5 running MediaHouse Pro, my Windows 8.1 using MediaPlayer (as VLC simply crashes with any DLNA/uPnP server) and lastly my OpenELEC box (based on XBMC).

All of the show me exactly the same problem in that none of the .mkv files are shown, most of my .avi are missing, and only the odd one shows in a sub folder that's just the extras of one show. Before the total wipe to try out the beta, I was also unable to see most of my photos.

The only good news is that the website, Android app and Samsung TV app can all see all the content so I know it's in there somewhere. It just won't let me watch it.

Any ideas as this is driving me spare? I love the product and how it's shaping up, but coming from TwonkyServer this is a bit of a disappointment as I realy want to get shot of it.

I have the same model of samsung tv, did the dlna server ever work for you? It worked fine for me since the inception of dlna but broke with the recent dev build, im just curious if it was ever working for you?

When you try to connect does it just continually try to connect and then fail with the latest beta?

DLNA has simply not worked properly at all with any version, I have no issues connecting with any device, I just don't get the library of media I should be seeing.

I only installed MB at the weekend so I have only tried the latest release and yesterday's beta versions.

so it's potentially not dlna-protocol related by rather the way the library is presented. do you see any content at all? i did some testing tonight with media house and bubble upnp and it went very well.

Before when I also did have my Movies folder added, I think I could see all of those but they are all in a single folder. I haven't added them this time while I figure this out.

I am having trouble getting photos to display in my 2011 Samsung PN59D8000. I have tried Stable, Beta and Dev builds that all behave the same.  I removed and re-installed MB3, added one photo library with only one jpg, changed resolution of jpg all with the same result. I am able to browse folders and see file names, but when I click on a photo, I receive Unsupported File type. I also still have no thumbnails as well when browsing through built in DLNA.

In addition, I also changed AlbumArtPN from JPEG_SM -> JPEG_TN which seemed to fix thumbnails for Music library but not for photos/movies. I also tried using flags from here since Serviio seems to work with everything but no luck.

http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=devices_format_support

I attached a snippet from my log, the MB3 profile I am using now and the serviio profiles that work with serviio. I tried to translate as much from the serviio profiles to the MB3 profiles. The IP address of the Samsung is 10.152.1.187. From the log, I don't see where things are breaking down.

Does anyone else have photos working with Samsung D Series using built in DLNA browser?

I believe that is already enabled (I tried both methods)

<EnableAlbumArtInDidl>true</EnableAlbumArtInDidl>

did you change it using the web interface? if this a custom profile? you can't change system profiles by editing xml or the server will just replace them back. the web interface should be used first to create a custom one. from there, most fields are available in the ui but some do need to be hand edited.

if this doesn't pan out, truthfully we haven't done a lot with photos and the dlna server yet. i'll have to set aside some time for them for the next release.

Yeah, I created the new profile from the web interface by modifying the default Samsung profile. Are there any troubleshooting steps I can take to figure this out?

comparing xml repsonses that we server vs. serviio. it might not be a bug but instead just something that hasn't been done yet.

Ok, just started to check it out and noticed a couple differences from Serviio.

1. Those are not the flags I have in my profile. I have the below. I have confirmed in the log it does detect my profile ok and all other settings are carried over. Maybe I am doing something wrong or not understand this fully.

http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_SM;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00D00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_MED;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00D00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_LRG;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00D00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_TN;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00D00000000000000000000000000000

2. MB3 does not return JPEG_TN resource like Serviio does. It also returns JPEG_SM twice.

3. Serviio returns ColorDepth="24" for JPEG_LRG, JPEG_MED and JPEG_SM. Just missing for JPEG_TN.

4. Serviio returns file size for JPEG_LRG. Confirmed that pressing info from TV, shows unknown file size when using MB.

Everything else looks the same.

I also get a disconnected message on the tv after the unsupported file message and dlna exits. I can re-enter immediately without issue.

ok, try the dev build going up soon. fyi it has some other changes that may require custom profiles to be rebuilt, if you have any.

Ok, thanks Luke. I just pulled Version 3.0.5330.22057 earlier and will try again after next update.

Appreciate the quick responses!

No luck on displaying photos, BUT all my thumbnails that were previously not working, are now working!! Movies, Music, Photos all have thumbnails.  Movies and Music still work as before but pictures still give me same message about unsupported file format followed by disconnect.

From the xml being returned, I notice that DLNA flags for jpegs is being returned as 01500000000000000000000000000000 instead of what I specify but other flags are correct. I see colordepth being returned for all now. Maybe Samsung is picky about file size not being returned for JPEG_LRG? Only JPEG_LRG has this value from Serviio. Also MB3 seems to return JPEG_LRG and JPEG_TN resource twice.

Serviio example:

<res colorDepth="24" protocolInfo="http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_LRG;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00D00000000000000000000000000000" resolution="2288x1712" size="774308">http://10.152.1.100:8895/resource/8546/MEDIA_ITEM/JPEG_LRG-0/ORIGINAL</res>

MB3:

<res protocolInfo="http-get:*:image/jpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_LRG;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000" colorDepth="24" resolution="1443x1080">http://10.152.1.100:8096/mediabrowser/Items/e6c31e5bfb442e84c9226eb8df9157cc/Images/Primary/0/52ff6d56e9d03cd262cfe9d32ee57fab/jpg/4096/4096</res><res

Thanks Luke, latest build does return file size. Everything looks similar to Serviio at this point but still not working.

Not sure if it means anything, but from wireshark, I see the 404 right before the FIN, ACK and RST,

For the 404, I see request, query.string as System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection and message "Handler for request not found".

Attaching screenshot.

the sizes are not required. nothing to worry about. we have image enhancement features that make it impossible to pre-determine what the size is going to be, so that's why it was removed.

Attaching new log. I am not sure whats going on, the flags appear correct and getting proper 200 response to HEAD requests now but still receive unsupported format.
