epsol 1
I am having issues where Media Browser Classic will not play anything after it has been in sleep mode. When i try to play a movie/tvshow/song... I just get the WMC busy icon for about 45 seconds and then it disappears and acts like I didn't even hit play. Only way to resolve this is to reboot my HTPC....
ebr 14825
WMC doesn't like being put to sleep. Either exit out of it before sleeping your machine or install the MCE Standby tool to do it for you automatically.
abstract 5
Hmmm... sorry, just my two cents again - but, not had any issues with WMC itself and sleep - in Vista, 7MC, or 8/8.1 Media Center versions - across three machines (power rig, HTPC, laptop). I did have temporary issues due to the sleep mode and SSDs, but that was solely down to the SSDs compatibility with sleep modes. I did wonder whether this (sleep) was related to my issues with the MB Classic front-end freezes, but sleep has no effect on the issue (tried hybrid, sleep and always on - sleep is not the cause, only Classic being left for a period of time). ebr 14825
All I know is enough people had problems with WMC when putting the machine to sleep that this guy wrote a special utility just for that issue (and then expanded it to do a lot more) and that I used to have problems as well and no longer do since using this utility. However, I'm sure it isn't completely consistent and may be related to specific hardware, drivers or other configuration. I just found the simple solution to be to always exit on sleep and re-start on wake. This also guarantees everything is up to date and forces authentication in case one of my kids comes along to use the system next.
epsol 1
I do exit out of WMC before sleep using the MCE Standby Tool but I still have this issue
ebr 14825
Then it sounds like an issue with your codecs. Are you using LAV?
epsol 1
I dont think its a codec issue.. Im starting to think its an issue with the actual mediabrowser server. As i noticed when this happens, if I go into the dashboard it shows all libraries as blank and lists 'folders'
ebr 14825
Is the machine or the drives containing the actual media going to sleep?
epsol 1
the machine itself isn't... HDs are going into power save mode... What I did last night was just completely delete the mediabrowser-server DB and started fresh and I havent had issues with MBC not playing, but i am having to 'rescan' everytime my fileserver is rebooted otherwise it shows nothing.... ebr 14825
Sounds like there is an issue with your media drives availability because they are going to sleep.
