I just updated the latest version of Serverwmc and MB3 (stable). I just tried to stream live tv thru the MB website and it won't start the stream. It was working a few days ago so I don't know if its the update or just a coincidence.

Here is my serverwmc log:

Thanks,

Scott

I found the bug, it happens when embedded credentials are turned on with MBS.  Sorry we missed this, that's one corner case that we didn't test.  I will have to rev swmc again, but I might wait a day to see if there is any other problem with this rev.  In the meantime, you can either rollback to the older version, or just turn off credentials.  Sorry about that.

Turning that off did fix it...thanks. I normally would not have had that on but I also use xbmc, no big deal right now though. Thanks and look forward to the update.

I just released a fix for this in serverwmc (1162).  With this version you can turn credentials back on.

@@krustyreturns I am still having issues with MBS playing Live TV when I try to start a stream I get a black screen in MBS and it shows the channel logo however trying to exit the stream results in the web gui window locking up resulting in me having to refresh the page to get out of it.

Now this is my question:

Most people here are using a Home PC my case may be an edge case as I use a Dell Power Edge 1950 server now the major difference is that the 1950 does not have an external video card (I must use the imbedded video card due to power / chassis configuration) or sound does your app have any requirements that would stop the Live TV from playing if some of the dedicated hardware is not present? The server passed the Cable TV Test in WMC (due to a patch) and I have some other software that can stream from the server using my setup (HDHRFling.com) granted MBS is a much better solution however I am referencing it just to show that I can stream from this server using my cable cards. (Please note I do not have both software packages running at the same time)

The original OP was for a bug with the last release that stopped live-tv playback if credentials were turned on. I gather in your case live-tv streams have never worked on this system.

Does wmc play live-tv?  What browser are you using?

Please restart serverwmc, try to start a live stream, then post its log after the live stream fails.

I can create a new thread if you would like - I have a few floating around :)

Live TV used to work about 4 months ago at some point it stopped working and has never worked again.

I will post some new logs from both MBS and ServerWMC

Either way, I don't mind discussing it in this thread, I just didn't want any confusion.

Just to follow up to the original topic. This did fix the problem for me. I updated, turn credentials back on and was still able to stream.

Thanks for the quick help!!

@@swindmiller, thanks for following up.

@@mbnwa,

The good news is swmc is capturing the tuner output fine.  If you want to check for sure, you can go to the debug tab in swmc and turn off 'delete temporary files', then start a live stream and let it run for a minute or two.  Then you will find the wtv and ts files in the tempswmc folder inside your recorded tv folder.  You can check these to make sure they play.  Don't forget to reset this swmc setting back to normal when you are done.

The bad news is I can't tell why the stream is not playing on the mbs side (but to me it looks like at least the transcode part is working too).  Hopefully one of the mbs guys will help.

Thanks I will run the next step of the debug to see if the video is being captured correctly and can play back correctly

Ok so interesting turn of events here - I went to the temp directory and it had a crap load of files (Delete Temp Files was still checked) so I shut down ServerWMC deleted all files in that directory and started ServerWMC back up and Live TV played as soon as the service went live. I stopped the stream and tried to start the same stream again and I had the same no live tv playback issue so I stopped ServerWMC again deleted all files in that directory and restarted again live tv worked as expected.

It seems that the files are not being cleared out of that directory after someone is done watching the show. (based on my note below it seems the DVRMStoMPEG process is not stopping if / when ServerWMC wants to delete the file)

I would also like to add after I delete all files form the temp directory and restart the service if I am watching a live tv channel say 712 (Comcast Local HD Channel) and I start the same channel on another PC I get the same black screen and the video does not play back.

Additional Data: It would seem that after I shut down ServerWMC something is still holding onto the .ts files as I have to wait another 3-4 min's before I can delete them from the temp directory.

I can also see DVRMStoMPEG process still running after shutting down the ServerWMC process as well.

Yes please shutdown dvrmstomeg and test again.  I am assuming it is auto-opening the files and that's why swmc can't delete them.  Is there a way to tell dvrmstomeg to ignore the tempswmc directory?

Well it looks like it might be the issue :/ - uninstalled DVRMStoMPEG and it seems to be working - I will be doing some more testing to see if it's working as expected.

It would seem stating a channel and stopping it and trying to hit play again results in the black screen however refreshing the browser and playing again plays the channel fine - Is that expected?

also in this case the files that are created during the non-playback session do not get deleted - Releasing the tuner via MBS removes the .wtv stream but leaves behind the .ts stream

I have also found that the FFMpeg process get's stuck in this case and keeps the temp files from deleting and also holds the tuner in use

- Looks like I spoke too soon I am still seeing issues with video playback - What I can see is this Enter Media Browser Server --> Live TV --> Guide --> Start a channel

Temp Directory WTV file starts to build as soon as I hit play however the .ts file size only stays around 18Kb sometime 200+Kb if I refresh the bowser and play the same channel the .ts file starts to grow and the video plays back up to the spot that I hit refresh in the browser and then it stops also I notice that the tuner was released when this was done.

I would be happy to give you a test login so you can see what I am trying to get across we could catch up in Google Hangouts first if you want.
