darwindeeds 356
@@Dibbes your issue might be unrelated. I have noticed that you touch the status bar while playing something, the video disappears. Can you confirm if that is the issue? Please force close the app and try again.
darwindeeds 356
@@eddedrukker we tested the update with the mkv files we had and it worked fine. Can you please prove the server version that you are using? EDIT: I have sent your a PM as well. Edited August 25, 2014 by darwindeeds
foghat 65
@@darwindeeds I am having trouble with 1080p mkv's as well. 480p mkv's seem to play fine. They generally take longer to start than with the iphone app or the windows 8.1 app (not too big a deal though). The first few (anywhere from 2-15ish) seconds play fine (though sometimes the problem occurs right at the start), then the sound/video is choppy - where as it plays fine on the other two. Plus, the aspect ratio starts off right but then goes wonky after a handful of seconds - or usually when the sound goes wonky. I am running server 3.0.5347.22095 Here is a quick clip of what is going on. http://youtu.be/TKc7vACA6vU

darwindeeds 356
Can you try external subtitle, there seems to be an issue with server serving up the embedded sub rip in mkv. You can go into movie detail in the web client and download external subtitles that are confirmed to work. I had to put the subtitles in beta because of this issue that has to be fixed on the server side.
darwindeeds 356
@eddedrukker as far as crashing on the playback, I ran into your case yesterday and I think it has to do with a server issue. I saw duplicate movies in my library and when I play, I had a crash. So I completely uninstalled the server (without clearing the cache and settings) and reinstalled the latest release version of the server. The duplicate movie was gone and the playback was working fine since. You know that its bad if the meta data of the movie is not fully loaded, I can't positively confirm that its a server issue but its worth a try. Please post, logs or screenshots and I can help you further.

I have noticed that you touch the status bar while playing something, the video disappears. Can you confirm if that is the issue? Please force close the app and try again. You were right about the .avi. It's annoying, but playable, if the app doesn't crash. For the .mkv issues, I still have these. At this point, I reinstalled the server completely, as in reinstalled the OS (windows 2012R2), installed the latest release build of the server and had the media library scan finished. For some strange reason, the server doesn't even seem to start trancoding when trying to play 720p or 1080p media, no matter if subtitles are selected/present or not. I don't see any increase in processor activity at all. Server specs: Windows 2012R2 (fully patched and updated), Mediabrowser server (latest available release), Intel 2nd Gen i5 procesor, 16GB DDR3 Network: Cisco Managed Gigabit switch, Cisco ea6500 wifi access point (gigabit ports) ------------------------------- EDIT: And I feel like an idiot for forgetting to install the LAVFilters on the server. It works like a charm now... including the subtitles Edited August 31, 2014 by Dibbes
legallink 187
Just to chime in, I have related issues. All my media is mkv, since the update, I can't play any movies from the ipad app. I'm running server Version 3.0.5347.22095 I can load up my library fine, log in, etc, but once I hit play on a movie, I get nothing but black screen with the spinning wheel of death. Additionally, the server doesn't even recognize the app as an active client...nor does it assign it an API key.
