MBC ignores external player selection

I usually use MPC-HC as my player, and after taking an upgrade to MBC 3.0.206.0 it only plays back using the internal player.  Is there  a work around to get it to use the external player again?  I like the new internal layer but I'm having issues with it not playing some content and am tired of trouble shooting it in front of the wife.

 

Update, just got offered MBC 3.0.207, and that has improved some of the issues that I was seeing with the internal player, it does not seem to be honoring the configurator settings for using an external player for all content.

Please post your MBCommonXml.config file (found in %appdata%\MediaBrowser-Classic\Configurations) and an MBC log from playback.

Are you 100% certain that you are logged into Windows with the user account from which that config file came?

Nothing in the latest version changes your login but the delete privileges are now defined on the server instead of in MBC.

Actually yes and no.  I only use a single account for logging into to the Windows host.  It is LUA so I use an Admin account for configuration and other tasks where needed, I never log into the Administrator account. What I do notice digging through the logs is I have two MBC configurations accounts, I believe I had actually switched over to the alternate config account, I recall being able to delete content which is not in my usual default configuration.  Is there something about the upgrade that might have switched which account I was using?  Regardless, I'm now definitely logged into my regular account and it now launches MPC-HC as expected.  Looks like general user error on my part, thanks for digging in.

I am also having this exact same problem with Version 3.0.5395.0, whereby MBC is now ignoring my external player selection (MPC-HC).  It was working fine, and is now broken.  Logs attached.

That is because the items are being streamed instead of direct-played from the server.  Give the windows user running MBC access to those media folders and you should get your external player back as well as better quality and features.

Hrrm, not sure I understand.  I am the sole windows user on my computer (which is my server), so I believe I have access to the folders.  How do I check if I have access to the folders?

 

Alternatively, I'm running MBC on the same computer that the media folders are on, so I'm not sure why it's streaming at all.  How do I stop it from streaming and just direct play within MBC?

You stop it from streaming by ensuring the user can access the media exactly as you have it defined in the server.  From the log it appears MBC cannot access \\MyServer\TV\The Flash (2014)\Season 1\The Flash (2014) - 1x02 - Fastest Man Alive.mkv.

Got it.  I didn't have path substitutions set up at all.  Rather, I was going directly to the folder location on my pc (which should work, since I'm running everything on the same computer, I would think).  Nevertheless, once I set up path substitutions across the board, that fixed the issue.

Not sure if this is a similar issue. Yesterday I upgraded my boot drive from a 40gb SSD to a 128 SSD and cloned the 40 to the 128.

 

MBC is running on my HTPC in my living room. Prior to the new cloned 128 SSD we were able to stream to various clients no problem. Now it won't stream, I've tried to stream to ChromeCast and our iPhones, neither work.

 

Works fine on the HTPC which is also the MB Server.

That does not in anyway sound similar to MBC external player settings. you should create your own topic with adequate information for the right people to diagnose.
