I just upgraded to the latest version of MBT and I'm unable to play one of my movies. Subtitles are disabled, there are no embedded or external subtitles. When I click play it goes fullscreen but nothing happens. Just a black screen. I've attached the log (error appears to be at line 211).

Server Version: 3.0.5395.0

MBT Version: 3.0.5413

Okay, so this morning when I try it I get "There was an error processing the request", which wasn't happening yesterday. The computer rebooted overnight which may account for the difference. Also, the log now shows an error about the audio format not being supported.

I'm trying to upload the log and a screenshot but it's saying I can only upload 5.59KB. That seems awfully small. What's up with that?

And just to clarify, this is happening with multiple movies (I'm guessing they have the audio format in common, but I haven't verified). I've never had a problem with 6 channel DTS before...

I'm running the latest MB server as a service on a Win7 Pro x64 machine. MBT is running on the same machine (connected to TV via HDMI). Max local bandwidth is set to 40mbps in MBT (not that it matters). Files are all stored locally on the pc. Not sure what other info might be helpful, so please let me know what else I can provide.

Also, I can't attach it, but it will let me embed the media info, so here you go:

Can you check to see if it works any differently if you disable bit streaming?

Audio Bitstreaming Mode was set to "HDMI". I changed it to "None" and got the black screen again (no error this time... weird).

I've attached the MBT log as well. Didn't see an error there either.

Edit: There were no transcoding log entries created. I'm not sure if this is because it's playing directly or if an error occurs before it gets to that point.

In addition to his question, he submitted a fix which I pushed as a beta .

It should auto-update if I'm on the beta channel, right? I'm on v3.0.5417.530. Does that contain the fix?

Can you zip a repro file and put it on GoogleDrive or OneDrive?

Sorry, by "repro" do you mean one of the video files that won't play?

Just wanted to add that I'm not sure it's the audio that's the problem. I just played another movie with the exact same audio format and it played fine.

The only way I've been able to reproduce the issue with this file is if I configure MBT to bit stream to a AR that doesn't support bit streamable formats. Can you double check that your default audio device hasn't gotten set to something it shouldn't be? Might also be worth a shot to try the WASAPI AR, with the end point explicitly set.

Bitstreaming Mode is set to HDMI, which is what it's always been. I changed the AR to WASAPI and that didn't make any difference. I went into Audio Settings to change the Audio Device (WASAPI) and discovered another bug:

54550d9fb9696_20141101_114103.jpg

When I cycled through the options and it landed on this one, the +/- buttons got pushed out of view and now I can't change it!

Update: I uninstalled MBT removing all traces. I went back in and set Bitstreaming Mode to "None" and Audio Device (WASAPI) to "AMD HDMI Output" (both independently and together) and the video still won't play.

Is there a way to download previous versions of MBT? I'm happy to help you troubleshoot as long as it takes, but if we can't figure this out I'd like to have my home theater back... :-)

I will try to reproduce it on an AMD system. Maybe there's something going on there that I'm missing.

Can you PM a complete log w/ verbosity set as high as it will go?

Well son of a *****, I found the problem! I was using Advanced Intros, but I had disabled it for my user by specifying no intro items. Apparently the newer MBT handles intros a bit differently and this stopped working. It saw that I had configured intros for my user, but because it was empty it just didn't play anything. Not sure why some files were able to play though. Anyway, I deleted the empty config for my user and now it works!

Sorry I wasted so much of your time on this!

Hello,

I am experiencing a similar issue, and am hoping you can provide a little more details on your solution.  I cannot find any settings, either in the UI or config files, related to Intros.  Is this setting on MBS or MBT?

Thank you!

The setting is in MBS. It sounds like you're not using the Advanced Intros plugin, so the setting will be in Playback -> Cinema Mode. Make sure trailers are completely disabled there.
