Hello all!

I'm new to the whole HTPC but was at a friends house who was using MB and thought it was wonderful, thought I would give it a try. I have a large DVD and Blu Ray collection and jumped in.

I have installed the server and media browser classic running thru WMC on windows 7. I have been backing up my DVDs with no trouble then went on to Blu Rays...I have backed them up using DVDfab and they are in the AVCHD file format.

My problem is when I try to play them in MBC the artwork is there, everything looks great but when I hit play nothing happens? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to install an external player?

I also have MBT installed and the Blu Rays play fine in there but I prefer the MBC...what can I do to get the Blu Rays to play in MBC?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've been searching for a couple of days thru forums and can't find the answer I need...thanks in advance for any help! :)

CBers

Do you have MBT and MBC on the same HTPC?

If so, then you should already have LAV filters installed.

If not, Google LAV filters and install on the HTPC where MBC us installed.

Yes both MBC and MBT are on the same HTPC but one plays the Blu ray and one does not. Should I still install LAV filters? Has no one else encountered this? I would love a solution, I much prefer MBC...thanks in advance for any help...

Windows doesnt recognize all formats thrown at it, thats why there are different codec packs available to download on the internet. LAV is an all in one codec pack for ur htpc, think of it as a dictionary to translate the different media types so that Windows Media Center can play the video types.

Older versions of MBTheater required LAV to be downloaded separately, that's why I believe CBers says it should already be on ur PC, but I believe newer versions of MBTheater have their own version of LAV codec pack built in like for example VLC player or MPC player so other programs, such as Windows Media Centre + MBClassic can't take advantage of LAV in this situation so you will need to download and configure a codec pack seperately so that windows can understand the different media types you try to play.

LAV codecs is not the only option available, but for ease of use it is suggested and will have you up and running in no time... Or should I say sitting and watching

Hope I'm not confusing you, but do a search here on the forums for a topic on how to install and configure LAV and you should be set

Let me give u a head start, here is a good explanation and setup tutorial with handy links at the bottom depending on the route you want to take
